Carpenters - Full Time/ Jurong East

To fabricate, install, maintain and dismantle carpentry-related components for events and exhibitions — such as exhibition booths, stages, backdrops, display furniture and decorative wood/wood-like structures — ensuring high quality, safety compliance and on-time delivery.

**Key Responsibilities**
- Read and interpret drawings, sketches, design briefs and technical instructions for event/exhibition installations.
- Take accurate measurements and calculate materials required (wood, MDF, plywood, laminates, metal framing if needed) and report any discrepancies.
- Fabricate and prepare carpentry items in workshop or on site: cut, shape, assemble, finish (sanding, varnish/paint, laminate) structural or display items.
- Install structures on-site in event or exhibition halls: assemble booths, panels, display stands, furniture, stage platforms, signage frames.
- Ensure installations meet design specifications, are level/plumb, secure, safe for use during the event duration.
- Coordinate closely with other trades (lighting/AV, graphics/signage, rigging, flooring) to ensure carpentry work integrates properly.
- Maintain tools, equipment and materials inventory; ensure good housekeeping in workshop and site.
- Assist in dismantling and removal of carpentry elements post-event, including packing/store or disposing of materials, returning venue to required condition.
- Follow workplace safety regulations and venue rules (e.g., load limits, fire safety, rigging clearances, venue flooring protection).
- Report issues (material shortages, structural concerns, damage, time delays) promptly to supervisor or project manager.
- Occasionally assist with custom furniture/build-ins, hidden storage within event structures, or refurbishing reused booths for future events.

**Skills & Qualifications**
- Proven carpentry experience, ideally in event, exhibition, interior or similar environments.
- Ability to read and interpret technical drawings, blueprints or sketches.
- Strong measurement, cutting, assembly skills; precision in finishing (smooth edges, good surface quality) especially important for display booths.
- Familiarity with wood and related materials used in event/exhibition contexts (plywood, MDF, laminates, acrylic/metal in some cases).
- Good physical condition: able to lift, carry, assemble components; work on-site under time pressure (setup/dismantle).
- Good time-management and ability to work to tight deadlines (event installation often has fixed arrival/clear-out times).
- Good communication skills and ability to work with a team (other carpenters, site foreman, project manager, other trades).
- Good awareness of safety standards, and willingness to follow site safety rules and venue regulations.

**Working Conditions & Context**
- Most work will be on-site in event / exhibition halls (e.g., at venues such as Singapore Expo, convention centres) which often means irregular hours (early morning setup, late nights, dismantling after event).
- Workshop fabrication may be required away from event venue, then transported/assembled on-site.
- Deadlines are tight and the environment is high-pressure leading up to event opening.
- Post-event work includes dismantling and storage/transport of materials.
- Safety and cleanliness important: event venues expect restoration/clean-up of area and mínimal disruption to other exhibitors/operations.
- The role may involve travel within Singapore, sometimes weekends/public holidays depending on event schedules.

- Event/exhibition booth structures built to spec (size, finish, branding readiness).
- Display furniture, shelving, cabinetry, staging platforms installed and functioning.
- Backdrops, signage frames, decorative wooden elements glued/fastened, finished.
- All carpentry items dismantled and cleared as required by venue contract.
- Daily/weekly progress reports on installation status, material usage, issues encountered.
- Compliance with site safety checks and post-event wrap-up (e.g., checks for damage, storage of reusable components).
