**Job description**
Nuevocor is a pre-clinical stage biopharmaceutical start-up dedicated to developing gene therapies to treat the underlying cause of genetic cardiomyopathies. Backed by an international syndicate of reputable venture capital firms, it will focus on advancing its lead program to clinical trials. It will also leverage its platform technology, underpinned by a deep understanding of cardiac cell biology and novel cardiotropic viral vectors, to discover and develop therapies for genetic cardiomyopathies.
Nuevocor’s Singapore R&D site is seeking to hire at the Senior Scientist or Principal Scientist level to expand our internal research capabilities. You will be joining a close-knit team and will be expected to lead projects. You will liaise closely with other company scientists and external collaborators and direct research associates.
**Responsibilities**
- Identify and validate novel cardiomyopathy drug targets
- Design, execute and troubleshoot experiments to develop gene therapy constructs for the treatment of genetic cardiomyopathies
- Document and interpret data to develop and improve experimental procedures
- Keep detailed and accurate records of experiments, data and analysis to support and protect intellectual property of the company
- Prepare and present scientific updates internally and externally
**Qualifications needed**
- PhD in Cardiac Biology, Cell and Molecular Biology, or related fields
- Experience in working with animal models is highly desirable
- Background in cardiac genetics and disease, or cell structure and function (e.g. cytoskeleton cell biology), would be advantageous
- Experience in a range of molecular and cell biology techniques, such as primary and immortalized cell culture, transfection, immunohistochemistry, immunofluorescence microscopy, qPCR, and protein assays is required
- Evidence of scientific leadership ability or potential, such as substantial post-PhD research work, development of independent projects, or supervisory experience, is required
