Oncology Nurse

We are representing a private medical service company that advocates healthcare from diagnosis, treatment and maintenance of good health through a holistic and personalised approach.
As a Nurse, you are responsible to provide care for cancer patients and those who are at risk for getting the disease. This position involves complex patient assessments, specialized interventions, patient education, leadership, and ensuring the highest quality of care within the unit.
**Key Responsibilities**:
1) Patient Assessment and Care:
- Conduct thorough assessments of patients within the specialized unit.
- Develop and implement individualized care plans based on patient assessments.
- Administer medications, treatments, and interventions as required by the specialized unit's focus.
2) Specialized Procedures:
- Perform complex clinical procedures relevant to the specialized unit's area of focus.
- Ensure strict adherence to infection control protocols and safety standards.
3) Patient Education:
- Educate patients and their families about their medical conditions, treatment plans, and self-care.
- Provide detailed guidance on medication management, lifestyle modifications, and preventive measures.
4) Leadership and Mentorship:
- Act as a mentor to junior nursing staff within the specialized unit.
- Assist in the orientation and ongoing training of new team members.
5) Collaboration and Communication:
- Collaborate closely with physicians, nurse practitioners, and other healthcare professionals to ensure coordinated patient care.
- Maintain open and effective communication with patients, families, and interdisciplinary team members.
6) Documentation:
- Maintain meticulous and comprehensive medical records, including assessments, interventions, and progress notes.
- Ensure compliance with regulatory and legal documentation standards.
7) Quality Improvement:
- Actively participate in quality improvement initiatives to enhance patient care and outcomes.
- Identify areas for improvement and contribute to the development of best practices.
8) Emergency Response:
- Be prepared to respond to medical emergencies within the specialized unit.
- Follow established protocols and procedures during crisis situations.
**Qualifications**:
- Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN) preferred.
- Minimum of 2 years of nursing experience. Years in a specialized outpatient setting will be a plus.
- Relevant certification in the specialized area preferred.
- Registered under Singapore Nursing Board (SNB).
- Basic Cardiac Life Support (BCLS) and any additional specialty certifications required.
- Strong clinical assessment, critical thinking, and leadership skills.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal abilities.
- Proficiency in electronic health record (EHR) systems.
**Physical Requirements**:
- Fine motor skills for tasks such as administering medications and conducting assessments.
- Visual and auditory acuity for patient monitoring and procedural support.
**Working Conditions**:
- Standard working hours with occasional flexibility based on unit needs.
- Exposure to infectious diseases and potentially hazardous materials.
