Operations Controller

**Location: Tengah Depot**

**Responsibility**:

- Ensure service punctuality (including train launching/withdrawing) for both passenger and engineering trains in accordance to train working timetable and/or published Traffic Bulletin
- To make necessary service adjustments to cope with the changing demand and provide quick recovery action to minimize service delay, service degradation and disruption to mainline and depot operations
- To provide and maintain a work environment that is safe and without risk to health for customers, the public, contractors and staff
- Report to Duty Chief Controller of failures incidents which may result in train service to be delay more than 2 minutes or more and incidents bearing safety implications.
- Including failures/incidents in the depot that can cause delays to the launching and withdrawing of train to/from depot and incident bearing potential safety and service implications.
- Assess all incidents and accidents happening in the line under his/her jurisdiction and to plan, organize and implement effective recovery actions in order to minimize the delay or disruption to train services.
- If an incident occurs, ensure the safety of passengers and staffs are well protected in accordance with the relevant rules and procedures.
- Coordinate and mobilize all relevant Engineering and Operations staff to deal with an incident (mainline and depot) in the most expeditious and safe manner.
- Including failures/incidents in the depot that can cause delays to the launching and withdrawing of train to/from depot and incident bearing potential safety and service implications.

- Coordinate and mobilize all relevant Engineering and Operations staff to deal with an incident (mainline and depot) in the most expeditious and safe manner.
- including depot reception tracks and to manage shunting movements/train testing within the depot upon request by relevant Engineering departments.
- Monitor passenger situation at station platforms and on-board of the trains through VSS and TVSS and render assistance to passengers through communication facilities at Operations Control Centre (OCC).
- Provide concise and timely information to passengers through the train-borne and station public announcement system in response to the prevailing train service situation.
- Records public address (PA) announcements during delays, degradation or disruption for dissemination to stations as part of service communications to passengers.
- Maintain effective and efficient communication with internal and external parties when dealing with an incident or a service disruption.
- Manage and control all track access activities under his/her jurisdiction (mainline and depot) according to the prescribed Rules and Procedures.
- Authorize personnel who needs to access onto the tracks for maintenance works or emergency purposes during Traffic and Non-Traffic hours accordingly (under direction of Chief Controller).
- Prepare necessary documents related to train service operations, based on the data available in the Integrated Supervisory Control System, analyses the train service pattern and make recommendations for service improvement.
- Provide feedback to improve on current train working timetables and to develop new timetables when assigned.
- Report to Duty Maintenance Control Operator (MCO) / Shift Depot Supervisor (SDS) for follow up action on any fault found on the equipment in OCC/DCC, trackside and trains in timely manner.
- Deploy staff to the train (mainline and depot) as per their duty roster and/or according to the operation needs.
- Review and develop procedures, local instructions, manuals under the charge of the department. Carrying out risk assessment and executing associated control measures when needed
- Maintain documentation for all train launching/withdrawing activities, depot shunting movements, train testing and track access within the depot automatic area including reception track during his / her duty shift
- To escalate to the proper authority in security/safety related matters
- Mentoring and training new staff who are undergoing on-the-Job trainings in the Operations Control Centre/Depot Control Centre
- Maintain competency through performing the various roles under JRL Traffic purview
- Maintain good housekeeping role in OCC/DCC with regards to working environment, safety and security system
- Take on new ad-hoc tasks when assigned by management
