The Housekeeping Houseman/Runner is responsible for supporting the overall housekeeping operations by ensuring that all rooms and public areas are maintained and stocked with necessary supplies. This role involves delivering linens, towels, and amenities to guest rooms and other areas of the hotel, as well as assisting in maintaining cleanliness and organization throughout the property.
**Room Support**:
- Ensure that all rooms and public spaces are well-stocked with the necessary items such as cleaning supplies, linens, or guest essentials.
- Provide support to housekeepers and room attendants by delivering clean linen, collecting dirty linens, ensuring smooth operations within the team
**Public Area Maintenance**:
- Maintain the cleanliness of public areas such as hallways, elevators, lobby, restrooms, and corridors.
**Equipment and Supply Management**:
- Deliver supplies and equipment to the housekeeping staff, ensuring they have what they need for cleaning and maintenance tasks.
- Assist in maintaining the housekeeping supply rooms and restock items as needed.
**Assisting Housekeeping Staff**:
- Help with heavy lifting, such as moving furniture, sending extra bed and baby cots or equipment as needed.
**Guest Interaction**:
- Occasionally interact with guests to deliver special requests, additional items, or provide assistance with their needs.
- Always maintain a professional, polite, and friendly demeanor when communicating with guests
**Health and Safety**:
- Adhere to hotel and safety standards, including the proper handling of chemicals and cleaning supplies.
- Ensure that all tasks are carried out in a manner that promotes the health, safety, and security of guests and staff.
**Shift Flexibility**:
- Houseman Runners may be required to work flexible hours, including nights, weekends, and holidays, depending on hotel requirements.
**Stock Inventory**:
- Monitor Housekeeping Pantry, storage area and Housekeeping Room Attendants usage, arrange and pack stock items and sending up to them according to needs.
- Count stocks in weekly and monthly format, inform when supplies are low
- Adhere to first in first out for stock control, proper cleanliness and hygiene in storage area.
**Uniform Room Support**:
- Bringing soiled linens down from Room Attendants.
**Sorting and counting of soiled linens, arrange them in categories to send out for wash.**
- Return of Guest Laundry to guest rooms.
**Pest Control**:
- Escorting Pest Control for routine and feedbacks
**Other Duties**:
- Assist to complete or in charge any projects assigned by the Housekeeping Supervisors, AEH and EH.
**Skills and Requirements**:
- Physical Fitness: The role may require moving furniture, lifting heavy items, and walking or standing for long periods.
- Attention to Detail: Ensuring all areas and rooms are clean and well-maintained.
- Team Player: Collaborating with housekeeping and other hotel departments for smooth operations.
- Time Management: Working in a fast-paced environment, the ability to prioritize tasks effectively to ensure that rooms and public spaces are prepared on time.
- Good Communication: While not primarily guest-facing, communication with staff and occasionally with guests is important.
- Experience: No prior experience is often required, but previous work in hospitality or cleaning is a plus.
