**Community Worker**

Our client, AMKFSC Community Services is a leading community-based social service agency, which provides a holistic range of services to support children, youths, families and seniors at multiple touchpoints across Singapore.

The Community worker is expected to have expertise in engaging people and groups, with profiencies in the theories and practice of group work and community engagement modalities. You should hold basic programme planning and management skills to run initiatives to support persons in the community. You may be required to run training programmes to facilitate the propagation of specific community work modalities.

**Roles and Responsibilities**

**1. Community Work**
- Conduct environmental scans and assess community needs **. **Activities include data collection and the conduct of basic analysis (e.g. collation of social data, conducting interviews or surveys, community mapping, analysis of social trends, etc).
- Design develop and implement Community Specific development programmes (e.g. Aging community in a specific neighbourhood).
- Participate in community development initiatives and provide recommendations for consideration.
- Utilise collaborative approaches such as the ABCD (Asset Based Community Development) Approach or Narrative Community Work to empower and enrich communities.

**2. Engagement**
- Engage, facilitate and build stakeholders’ co-ownership and co-creation of CE platforms
- Manage, develop and maintain positive relationship between staff and stakeholders
- Manage group dynamics and facilitate community conversations
- Plan, organise, develop and conduct orientation, training and visits
- Conduct evaluation of the engagement with the larger community i.e. Individuals, schools, organisations

**3. Asset mapping**
- Identify and document the informal and formal assets in the community
- Activation
- Match and mobilise stakeholders and their assets to contribute actively to our CE efforts, through relationship building and sustaining their motivation

**4. Training**
- To work with the organisation to develop and conduct training/workshops for staff, clients and volunteers in the community.
- To work with in-house clinical team to develop and conduct training for internal staff and external parties.

**5. Programmes**
- To develop and conduct group work and programmes for the vulnerable, in consultation and collaboration with community assets.
- To develop and conduct programme evaluation to evaluate the efficacy of community based programme.
- Coordinate partnerships with key volunteers and resource persons and manage resource database.

**6. Others**
- To embark on and conduct research when applicable
- To initiate outreach and collaboration with partners and external agencies to establish partnerships for programmes and service delivery
- Support the proliferation of collaborative community work in the organisation and within the sector.
- Perform other organisational functions as required by the Centre Head, or supervisor.
- Support development and documentation of Community Work processes in the organisation, with focus on the Asset Based Community Development perspective.

**Desired Skills and Competencies**
- Relevant degree in Social Work, Psychology, Sociology, Political Science, Economics, or other relevant disciplines.
- 0-4 years of experience in Community Work.
- Proficient in oral and written communication, especially English
- Highly Adaptable, and comfortable working with evolving conditions.
- Community Centric and believes in the power of community.
- Good interpersonal and teamwork skills
- Good analytical skills
- Effective leadership skills
- Possess good understanding of community based organisations, and knowledge of working with groups.
