DESIGNATION : Data Engineer

RESPONSIBILITIES

BW LPG is investing in the data infrastructure and in becoming a data driven organization. We have lots of interesting challenges and ambitious goals for using analytics to solve these and become the world’s most efficient shipping company.

As Data Engineer at BW LPG you will be a central part of the IT team. You will work closely with the business side to understand, design and build the data solutions to their important challenges. Our teams work on challenges such as increasing shore side process efficiency, reducing vessel emission, improving ship efficiency, providing decision support for ship captains and shore staff, reducing fuel consumption and optimizing vessel maintenance. We do not think we can solve all issues by ourselves. Cooperation and data sharing with our partners is part of our operating model, and the Data Engineer will play a crucial role in creating value from these relationships.

We work mostly with Microsoft’s data platform (mainly Azure and Power BI). You will have the end-to-end process from understanding the data needs, to developing and deploying flexible, scalable and secure pipelines as well as creating actionable insights.
- Ensure we use the best tools and infrastructure to provide insights to the organization
- Architect, build, scale, and maintain our data platformon modern cloud technology
- Collect data from internal and external sources mainly using Python and SQL
- Work with businesses to understand their needs and enable data-driven decisions.
- Create business insights through visualization, reports, creating analytical possibilities and predictions
- Contribute to the realization of business value from the plethora of sensor information at our disposal

QUALIFICATIONS
- Minimum Bachelor’s Degree in a relevant field of technology
- Minimum 4 years experience with Data Engineering, Software Engineering or Data Science
- Fluency in SQL. Python skills are a clear advantage.
- Hands-on experience with building data platforms on cloud, preferably Azure
- Familiar with Data Factory, PowerBI, Azure Functions, ML, Databricks, Synapse, or similar technology
- Experience with DevOps, Dataops, MLOps version control and data modelling is a bonus
- Experience with sensor data analysis is an advantage
- Excellent command of English
