Job Description Summary
- The Operational Due Diligence (ODD) team is responsible for performing operational due diligence assessments on prospective investment managers and existing manager relationships. This team plays an integral role in ongoing due diligence oversight and monitoring of investment managers. The team is looking to hire an Associate, Operational Due Diligence. This person will report to the Senior Associate, Operational Due Diligence in Singapore.
- ODD assessments consist of phone calls with senior professionals at the investment manager along with a review of answered questions and various operational documents. Additionally, meetings/calls with key service providers are conducted as necessary. Areas of focus for the review process include: Firm Governance, Operations & Controls, Cash Management, Valuation, Service Providers & External Oversight, Legal & Compliance, Information Technology, Human Resources, as well as other operational areas as applicable. At the completion of the review, findings are documented in a written report detailing the key strengths and risks as well as overall assessments of the operational capabilities of investment managers.
- Job Skills and Abilities
- Familiar with private equity and various types of funds (including fund of funds)
- Experience in performing ODD on investment managers preferred; working knowledge of Asia based compliance regulations a plus
- Ability to work independently as well as part of a team
- Strong organizational and time management skills
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills; ability to formulate and support a documented thesis
- Well organized and detail oriented; ability to execute with accuracy; solid issue resolution
- Strong documentation skills and able to maintain data and supporting information
- Ability to work at a fast pace and is effective at managing competing priorities
- Proven experience to successfully manage multiple projects; produce quality deliverables on time
- Work closely with the various investment teams and team members of all levels and experience
- Responsibilities
- Operational Due Diligence Reviews: 80%
- Perform initial due diligence reviews of investment managers, as well as ongoing monitoring Review investment managers’ operational documents (e.g., due diligence questionnaires, procedural documents, regulatory correspondence, and other relevant documentation)
- Conduct interviews with COOs, CFOs, CCOs, CTOs and other operations personnel
- Review and engage with third party firms, including fund administrators, IT vendors, etc.
- Prepare detailed ODD assessment reports
- Participate in follow-up conversation with investment managers
- Keep abreast of market developments, industry trends and regulatory matters
- Technology Enhancements & Other Projects: 20%
- Embrace technology and employ lessons learned to improve ODD processes
- Aid with third party firm verification process
- Review controls of fund administrators
- Provide input and assistance in updating policy and procedure documents
- Participate in ongoing desktop due diligence reviews
- Perform ad hoc projects related to the ODD function
- Education

BS/BA or equivalent
- Work Experience

3+ Years; Audit, Operations, Compliance, Information Technology or related fields
