**Job Description**:
We’re currently a team of 11 in Asia Pacific from a range of international backgrounds and cultures, and we work as part of a much larger editorial team worldwide.
We are looking to add a** Commissioning Editor **to our** Books Editorial Team in Asia Pacific**.
You will be responsible for building and growing the revenue for a list of books in computer science and statistics in Asia Pacific. You will report to the Senior Publisher for Taylor & Francis Asia Pacific. You will be an important member of the team in helping us drive revenue and growth for the region and for Taylor & Francis’ books business.
**What you’ll be doing**:
Help us progress human progress through knowledge As a** Books Commissioning Editor **you will aid in our mission by:
- Developing and Growing the Computer Science and Statistics book publishing programme in Asia Pacific. In consultation with the Publisher, you’ll meet annual commissioning and revenue goals by commissioning new professional titles, textbooks and research monographs that respond to current market and research needs;
- You’ll work closely with an editorial assistant to meet annual frontlist publishing plans by ensuring that authors deliver quality manuscripts and these are sent to production on time;
- You’ll get to know the computer science and statistics markets through extensive research, campus calling and conference attendance throughout Asia Pacific including Australia and New Zealand;
- You’ll liaise closely with authors, series editors, as well as internal colleagues in editorial, production, marketing, and sales.
**Qualifications**:
**What we’re looking for**:
- Degree level or equivalent professional qualification preferred
- Experience working in academic publishing in an editorial role preferred
- Book commissioning experience would be an advantage
- A background in Computer Science or Statistics is not necessary but would be an advantage.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills in English
- Strong word processing, spreadsheet, and database skills
- The ability to organise and prioritise numerous tasks and to work on their own initiative
- Excellent team-working skills to deal with internal and external contacts at all levels
- The ability to work with demanding stakeholders in a diplomatic and assertive manner
- A resourceful and proactive attitude in dealing with problems and queries
- Good publishing business awareness and the ability to learn quickly.
