Job Summary

The podiatrist specializes in diagnosing, treating, and preventing conditions related to the feet, ankles, and lower limbs. Their responsibilities include addressing a wide range of issues, from common foot ailments to more complex conditions affecting mobility and overall health.

Key Responsibilities

Diagnosis and Treatment
- Examine patients' feet, ankles, and lower limbs to identify diseases, injuries, or deformities.
- Diagnose conditions such as bunions, plantar fasciitis, ingrown toenails, corns, calluses, and foot infections.
- Treat foot conditions caused by systemic diseases, like diabetes and arthritis.

Prescribing Treatments
- Prescribe orthotic devices, custom shoes, or other assistive devices to help with walking and mobility.
- Recommend exercises, stretches, or physical therapy to strengthen muscles and improve foot health.
- Educate patients on foot hygiene and preventive care.

Patient Care
- Work with other healthcare professionals (e.g., endocrinologists, orthopedic surgeons) in cases of systemic diseases affecting foot health.
- Educate patients on managing chronic conditions like diabetic foot care to avoid complications.

Diagnostic Testing
- Use X-rays, MRI scans, and other diagnostic tools to assess bone structure, tissue damage, and other related concerns.

Skills and Competencies
- Extensive knowledge of foot and ankle anatomy, physiology, and pathology.
- Skilled in diagnosing and treating foot conditions.
- Ability to perform minor surgeries and non-invasive treatments.
- Strong communication and patient care skills.
- Manual dexterity and attention to detail.

Documentation
- Record patient’s progress & reporting to physiotherapists.
- Maintain accurate & timely documentation of patient care in compliance with legal’s & clinic’s requirement.
