About the Role

The Sustainability Associate Director is a newly created job with a remit to further develop and enhance AIA’s commitment to sustainability. The role is responsible for developing and overseeing entity’s environmental, social and governance policies and procedures, as well to ensure compliance with AIA Group policies and recognized best practices.
- Improve current ESG policies, data collection and reporting at entity level.
- Work closely with colleagues to facilitate improved understanding and integration of ESG factors into their business areas, covering both risks and opportunities.
- Provide technical ESG assistance and support to the enterprise, including identifying gaps and opportunities and recommend actions to address and mitigate the gap.
- Lead training sessions or workshops on sustainability practices for employees, provide coaching and best practice sharing.
- Assess the financial impact of ESG initiatives and identify areas where the enterprise can improve environmental impact.
- Support external communication to stakeholders on material developments in the enterprise ESG performance and credentials.
- Remain up-to-date on ESG trends and developments and able to translate them into actionable improvements in the fund and portfolio companies.
- Facilitate and organize the agenda for ESG Committee meetings and participate in management or board meetings with company leadership.
- Possess commercial, creative and pragmatic thinking about improving ESG practices.
- Able to work autonomously with a hands-on approach.
- Aptitude to excel in an agile environment.
- Able to articulate and communicate effectively and appropriately and with all levels of stakeholders including employees, management, Board and regulators.
- Degree/ Certifications in relevant fields, e.g. MBA, Sustainability and Climate Risk (Global Association of Risk Professionals) and other relevant Management courses on Sustainability and Climate Risk.
- Must possess knowledge of sustainability and climate related risks and opportunities.
- An actuarial background with nuanced understanding of sustainability implications on insurance sustainability levers will be considered favorably.
- Extensive knowledge of insurance strategies to build preventative measures against potential losses.
- Good knowledge on process flows and control points.
- Good communication (written and verbal) and interpersonal skills.
- Team player and passionate in learning.
- Proven leader and manager, able to take charge and act assertively without guidance.
