**Job Title**:Business Architect **Function**:Planning & Engineering **Sub-Function**:Operations Technology **Created**:August 2020 **Reports To**:Manager, Operations Technology / Managing Director, Planning & Engineering **Relationships**:Divisional Engineering, Data Management and Data Science teams; IT; international and global P&E and IT groups **Purpose of position** The Business Architect is a pivotal role in the Planning & Engineering organization, that leads and guides the strategic planning and development of business and operating models, including the people, processes and technology required. This is a challenging role that helps strategy and business leaders understand, apply, monetize and operationalize existing, new, and emerging technologies to transform and optimize business and operating models. The Business Architect clarifies strategic intentions, identifies business outcomes, and facilitates design thinking, business modeling, ecosystem modeling, innovation management, IT investment analysis, and operating model design. **Areas of responsibility** 1 - Strategy Formulation and Planning - Assess the disruptive forces impacting the organization and the economic and financial levers for digital transformation and optimization - Facilitate enterprise strategy development, including business analysis, opportunity identification, technology plans and business cases, and operating model development - Engage stakeholders to identify technology-enabled innovation opportunities that enable and drive business strategy. Focus on growing revenue, optimizing costs, and mitigating risks - Use foresight, innovation and futurism to continuously test business models and strategies, and determine how to adjust either or both to become resilient and future-fit - Construct deliverables that demonstrate how to move the business toward realizing its strategic goals and targeted business outcomes, including technology, business capabilities, value-streams and processes and other key business architecture deliverables - Help business and IT leaders establish priorities and make informed investment decisions 2 - Business and Operating Model Design and Innovation - Work with business and IT leader and teams to describe, document and understand business and operating models clearly and explicitly - Ensure business and operating models fit together by showing the interdependences between components, and how the business models deliver their target outcomes - Identify business, information, solutions, technical and security architecture issues - Research and provide information on emerging technology trends, disruptions and practices. Seek ways to drive adoption of new technology and reuse existing technology for enabling business capabilities, value streams and business processes - Work with key organizational stakeholders, enterprise and domain architects, to define a strategic plan for leveraging integrated business architecture as part of the organization’s overall enterprise architecture. 3 - Agile Product Delivery - Facilitate a continuous flow of valuable products and services to customers and users - Develop ecosystem and business capability models, value stream and customer journey maps to guide agile teams in developing their minimum marketable and minimum viable products, value propositions and drive business outcomes - Collaborate with Agile Product Managers, Product Owners, IT Architects, infrastructure and project teams throughout the stages of the Agile development and product lifecycle, to ensure continuous delivery of business value, as well as to leverage shared technologies, tools, value streams and processes that impact speed to value and time to market. **To be successful in this role, you will need**: - Education: Bachelor’s degree or equivalent in Computer Science, Information Systems, or similar discipline. - Experience: >5 years of business or IT experience with a direct responsibility for strategy formulation and/or translation, as well as designing, developing, implementing and monitoring efficient and effective solutions to diverse and complex business problems - Knowledge and understanding of different types of business and operating models, as well as fundamental business principles and problems - Knowledge in all aspects of designing and constructing business capabilities, value streams, business processes, and organizational structures. - Familiarity with the Bizbok framework and SAFe Agile certification strongly preferred - Professional skills: influencing & persuasion; judgement & decision making; leadership; planning & organizing. Project management certification is a plus. - Fluency in written and spoken English
