**About our group**:
Material Science Lab is part of the Research and Development facilities located in Shugart building to support all HDD and some non-HDD material related selection, qualification, failure analysis, etc. The function of the lab includes performing components level material, coating and adhesive selection and qualification for new products. Perform failure analysis on the drives that failed different designed reliability or functional tests, etc to help in improving the cleanliness/material/coating/adhesive robustness. In addition, perform drives failure analysis to all pre-launch and post launch (e.g. customers’ returns) drives to help in resolving and improving drives quality.

**About the role - you will**:

- Key organic analyst to support drive failure analysis and proactive components outgassing/extraction analysis in terms of organic contamination related area. Investigates, develops, and improvises organic methods and techniques to resolve organic issues.
- Works on problems of diverse scope where analysis of data requires evaluation of identifiable factors.
- Demonstrates good judgement in selecting methods and techniques for obtaining solutions. Normally receives little instruction on day-to-day work, general instructions on new assignments. This job is a fully qualified, career-oriented, journey-level position.
- Run Gas Chromatography/Mass Spectrometer (GC/MS) - Auto Thermal Desorption (ATD) involving daily machine tuning, weekly calibration, worldwide correlation, troubleshooting and analysis using machine learning macro.
- Perform drives/components outgassing/chemical extraction and data analysis to provide technical advises in organic contamination related area.

**About you**:

- Effective team player and good interpersonal skill to work with other related departments in Seagate or suppliers, etc.
- Strong commitment and meticulous personality.
- Must be able to work independently.
- Able to resolve a wide range of issues in creative ways.

**Your experience includes**:

- Job requires at least a Degree in engineering field or applied sciences especially Chemistry.
- An experienced professional with minimum 2-3 years relevant Gas Chromatography/Mass Spectrometer (GC/MS) experience (i.e. operation, trouble-shooting & analysis), preferably in electronics related environment.
- Preferably has laboratory working experience.
- Those who know how to operate GC/MS equipment will be an advantage.
