About The Role
**About the Role**:
Reporting to the Head, Strategic Pricing, the jobholder is responsible for driving overall operational pricing strategy for the company, and coordinate with key commercial functions to execute the financial objectives. As a Data Scientist and Strategic Pricing Manager, the job holder will be responsible for the design and implementation of the pricing processes to achieve the targeted margins for the company. This role will be part the Business Optimisation function to improving overall profitability for the company and establish effective sales and pricing framework

The jobholder should possess deep market knowledge including areas of data establishment & management, analysis of mid-to-long-term macro-economic factors, energy & commodity markets, price forecast modelling and comparative production economics to support decision-marking for executive management in Borouge. The jobholder should also be able to provide analysis, business insights and recommendations on strategic and operational business issues and consulting and industry expertise and deep analytical knowledge, challenge status quo and guarantee robustness of the specific strategies.

Other significant responsibilities include the project execution and the development of predictive analytics which may also include basic programming and the ability to communicate complex data models to executive management, and regular reporting of the company performance to management and board.

Key Accountabilities

**Strategic Business Insights & Business Plan**
- Proactively provide analyses and business insights on the industry, petrochemical markets and related commodity markets, providing recommendations to support decision making by senior management
- Engage with different departments to understand and distill information, consolidate analyses, identify actionable recommendations for different time horizons and layers - strategic, tactical and operational.

**Business Plan General Guidelines and Assumptions**
- Review and issue the approved annual General Guidelines and Assumptions document for annual business planning cycle exercise with 5-year outlook on polyolefin-related markets, macro-economic indicators and pricing outlooks
- Facilitate alignment of detailed price forecasts on olefins and polyolefin with parent companies ADNOC and Borealis
- Issue price assumptions with various crude oil scenarios to support business planning process

**Market Analysis**
- Develop, align and communicate succinctly Borouge’s market view to internal stakeholders and maintain as Borouge’s thought leader in the markets.
- Keep up-to-date on the global economy, energy and polymer markets, and other trends that affect the profitability of the polymer sector.
- Perform regular analysis on market and internal data. Distil and provide insights of analysis to the Business Optimisation team
- Make decisions on the relevance or need of 3rd party data, 3rd party systems, database and predictive model needs
- Develop, maintain and present visualisations for market analysis to senior management

**Forecasting**
- Build and maintain fundamental models to drive the overall operational to long-term pricing strategy for the company, and coordinate with key corporate functions required for the predictive modelling needs
- Forecast fundamentals and prices for polymer and energy markets. Develop a view on macroeconomic economic outlook. The different time horizons of the forecasts include long-term for asset investment, medium-term for business plan and budget year, and short-term 1-3 months of optimization for production and sales planning.
- Communicate and align forecasts with stakeholders
- Measure, track and review the accuracy of forecasts
- Periodically test new and previous datasets relevance in forecasts
- Regularly review the price forecast model, with respect to correlation to data sources, and forecast algorithms to improve forecast accuracy

**Strategic Pricing Process**
- Support the Head of Strategic Pricing on developing pricing setting strategies based on market analysis, and statistical models to be built. This involves full understanding on business requirements, internal constraints, as well as market development and potential open tactical opportunities for next 6 to 12 months.
- Support Head of Strategic Pricing in the alignment of pricing strategy, constantly testing the current view based on changes in market and business conditions
- Communicate pricing setting strategies and coordinate with regional pricing team to achieve business objectives
- Assisting in implementation and execution of the Strategic Pricing processes to achieve the targeted margins for the company through accurate forecasting.
- Support Head of Strategic Pricing in leading pricing projects and assignments to support business continuity, and sustainable short / long term contingency
