Job Description - ViewMM Asia Software Developer

**Product Responsibility**: View Micro-Metrology

**Reports to**: ViewMM Asia Principal Software Design Engineer

**Status**: Full-time

Summary

Work in an interdisciplinary, fast-paced, and process-oriented environment to maintain and enhance software for automated measuring systems. Technologies used include optics, mechanical systems, cameras, image processing, and 3D sensors. Keep current in technology and methods for systems development, especially those that help to increase understanding of dimensional metrology as applied to measurement and inspection.

**Responsibilities**:

- Design and develop enhancements to current software products of View Micro-Metrology.
- Develop new and more efficient algorithms for use in metrology.
- Design, develop, document and maintain system specifications to meet customer requirements for advanced multi-sensor (laser, optical, 3D probe, etc) measurement products.
- Design experiments for verification of system performance.
- Work closely with customer facing group to determine requirements and issues as related to use of products.
- Work with developers remotely in other parts of the world (USA and India).
- Develop custom user interfaces that meet our customer’s needs.

**Skills, Education and Experience**:

- Diploma/Degree in one or more of the fields of Computer Engineering, Computer Science, or Software Engineering.
- Work experience in an interdisciplinary environment and involvement in the design and development of high-technology commercial products.
- Knowledge of software development practices and use of source control software.
- Good working knowledge of Microsoft Visual Studio
- Experience in object-oriented languages, especially C# and C++, as well as strong knowledge of lower-level languages like C.
- Troubleshooting and problem-solving skills.
- Teamwork oriented with excellent communication skills.
- Technical writing skills.
- Strong math and geometry skills.
- Ability to be self-directed and detail oriented.

**Example Projects**:

- Calibration algorithms and technology to improve precision and accuracy of measurement instrumentation.
- Development of functional capabilities for multi-sensor (laser, camera, 3D probes, etc) measurement instrumentation.
- Design, development and support of machine control and data collection software.
- Design and development of new state of the art sensor technology.
- Development of image processing algorithms
- CAD file processing.
- Improving current code base to be more maintainable and future proof.
- Increase usage of modern coding techniques in products
