Coupang Play is an OTT video streaming service. We offer a wide range of content, including Original Series, TV Shows, Movies, and Sports.

We are in the business of delivering exceptional storytelling. We produce award-winning scripted and unscripted Original Series, such as “Boyhood”, “Anna”, and “SNL Korea”. We believe Sports can also be elevated by creative storytelling. Play is now an authoritative destination for Sports, broadcasting K-League, La Liga, Bundesliga, F1, NFL, and other leading leagues and tournaments. We also offer some of the latest movies that were just released in local theaters, bringing more exceptional storytelling to our Customers.

To ensure that we deliver all content seamlessly, we invest in Engineering, Product, and Design. Coupang Play is available on all mobile devices, tablets, PC, Smart TV, Apple TV, and Android TV. Our teams keep optimizing how Customers discover and stream both VOD and Live content. That includes investments in frontend, backend, and infrastructural developments. We also embrace Machine Learning to refine our CX.

**Role Overview**

You will collaborate closely with Product Management, Design, and Business Development teams to deliver innovative solutions that delight users and drive business growth. This is a high-impact leadership role that requires a balance of strategic thinking, technical depth, and operational excellence.

**What You Will Do**
- Provide technical and strategic leadership to multiple functional teams by guiding sound design decisions while aligning with both tactical and strategic priorities.
- Collaborate closely with product and design teams to build and deploy high-quality, user-facing features.
- Develop and deliver front-end and back-end solutions that enhance metadata management, content discovery, user experience, and engagement.
- Drive the development of intelligent, personalized, and intuitive content discovery experiences that help users easily find and engage with relevant content.
- Evolve our content management platform to support scalable metadata ingestion, editorial workflows, and personalized content discovery across Coupang Play’s growing catalog.
- Drive technical innovation by evolving the current architecture to the next level—designing next-generation systems that are scalable, stable, and highly reliable to support long-term growth and operational excellence.Build and lead local and regional teams across our offices in Seoul and Singapore.

**Basic Qualifications**
- A minimum of 12 years of professional experience in software engineering, including 4+ years in engineering management, with experience managing managers.
- An advanced degree or equivalent experience in computer science, electrical engineering, or a related field.
- Ability to translate product vision and customer needs into scalable, performant, and reliable architecture.
- A proven track record of building and structuring high-performance engineering organizations.
- Strong ability to drive engineering discipline, define technical roadmaps, promote engineering excellence, and ensure execution aligns with product goals.
- Demonstrated experience in designing and scaling distributed backend systems that support high traffic volumes, traffic surges, high throughput, and low-latency user experiences.Hands-on experience and deep understanding of modern backend technologies and architectural patterns, such as microservices, event-driven systems, API gateways, caching layers, database systems, cloud platforms, and CI/CD pipelines.

**Preferred Qualifications**
- Experience working in a fast-paced environment developing large-scale, consumer-facing products.
- Experience delivering technical innovations for OTT services.
