**Job Description & Requirements**

The Senior Quantity Surveyor sources for all the cost estimated for the construction projects and prepares quotations and tenders for projects. They assist project managers in the procurement administration of the project and manage project budgeting, controlling of cash flow and cost, processing of claims, contract payment and settlement of final accounts as well as maintaining proper documentation.

The Senior Quantity Surveyor also manages a small team of junior Quantity Surveyors.

**Roles and Responsibilities**
- Allocate work to contractors and subcontractors to facilitate the smooth workflow process.
- Assess the degree of hazards and risks to ensure workplace safety is maintained.
- Communicate with the management, contractors and sub-contractors on the adjustments to cost estimates to facilitate smooth transition of information.
- Conduct the negotiations during the course of the project in order to ensure issues are resolved.
- Control project scope to meet project objectives in order to enhance project deliverables and key work activities.
- Managed team of Junior Quantity Surveyors.
- Monitor project costs to ensure the objectives of the project are achieved in accordance with building contract law.
- Oversee and ensure compliance with standards.
- Prepare cost analysis and form cost reduction strategies to ensure the overall value is enhanced for the project.
- Prepare tender and contract documents in accordance with the building and construction regulations.
- Provide advice on contractual claims so that the project scope is managed.

A quantity surveyor (QS) is a professional in the construction industry and is responsible for managing all costs related to construction projects. They primarily estimate and monitor project costs, from the early design to the final construction stages.

Quantity surveyors monitor ongoing construction projects and ensure they are completed within the projected budget and schedule. They work closely with project managers, architects, engineers, contractors and other stakeholders to ensure a project is cost-effective and meets quality standards.

These professionals typically begin working on a project during the design phase, giving cost estimates associated with the project, such as materials, labour and equipment. They also prepare tender documents and contracts for the project.

During the construction phase, they monitor and manage costs to ensure the project is completed within the budget. Quantity surveyors may also assist in resolving disputes between parties involved in the construction project.
