Senior Underwriter

In this role, you will be leading a team to assess medical and financial risks of applicants for life and health insurance policies and also supervise and set priorities for your team. As part of this dynamic role, you will report to Underwriting Consultant, New Business and work closely with internal and
external stakeholders to evaluate the risk and exposures of potential clients.
**Job Description**:
- Supervising and setting priorities for the team
- Analyze and solve problems without clear precedence
- Acts as a resource for colleagues to provide expertise advice/coaching
- Make decisions, within the given authority, that are consistent with underwriting standards and compatible with market trends
- Review cases with complex medical conditions and multiple risk factors
- Provide support and services to Financial Consultants on matters relating to underwriting
- Face to face service interaction with the sales team at PruBusiness Centres on New Business matter
- Be involved in ad hoc projects

Competencies & Personal Traits
- Possess strong leadership skills
- Sound knowledge of medical conditions, insurance laws & regulations
- Good understanding of insurance products
- Customer-oriented, with good interpersonal and communication skills
- Confident in problem solving and decision making
- Possesses project management skills
- Proficient in MS Office
Working Experience
- Minimum 6 to 8 years of experience in life underwriting
Professional Qualifications & Education
- Relevant industry qualifications are an asset
