Senior / Social Worker (Homesweethome)

Our home provides stay-in treatment for children between the ages of 7 to 12 years old who have experienced abuse. We use the Trauma System Therapy (TST) treatment model to help children with complex trauma and aggressive behaviour. Together with MSF, we work towards safe placements for these children, when they are ready to be discharged from the Home and well enough to return to the community.
**Responsibilities**:
Duties (not limited to the following) include:
- Responsible for providing high quality and effective therapeutic casework services for clients
- Ensure that the emotional, social, behavioural, developmental, therapeutic and educational needs of clients are met through the development, implementation and timely review of individual therapeutic care plans.
- Effective use of treatment models and tools, such as, Trauma System Therapy (TST), Positive Behavioural Interventions and Support (PBIS), Structured Decision Making (SDM), _Child and Adolescent Needs and Strengths_ (_CANS_)
- Effective use of therapeutic approaches and other intervention strategies that achieve the overall therapeutic care plan of each client, such as, timely reunification to family or other permanency goals
- Provide linkage to community resources for clients and their families, to facilitate the reintegration of the clients into the community. This includes stakeholders, such as, school, medical/mental health professionals, FSC, CPSC, Foster Care services, VCH
- Broker and/or provide therapeutic interventions/programmes to the clients as part of the treatment plan
- Work with MSF Child Protection Officer and external agencies to provide coordinated care for the clients
- Provide regular updates and reports to the interdisciplinary team to facilitate decision making on treatment plans required for the clients in TGH
- Provide all necessary documentation for all clients, including case reviews, admission presentation, discharge summaries, referral, TST documents, and other ongoing records required in TGH
- Provide training to direct care staff on therapeutic skills that will facilitate positive and/or trauma informed interactions with the clients
- Provide coaching and training to caregivers/parents on parenting skills to facilitate positive and trauma informed interactions with their children
- Play an active part in the evaluation of TGH therapeutic models and programmes
- Plan, implement and evaluate group work and programmes that will complement the therapeutic goals
**Requirements**:
- Demonstrates good knowledge in working with children and youth, and competency to perform roles of higher responsibilities
- Shows capability to manage issues of complex multi-problems children and families
- Demonstrates understanding of trauma, attachment and resilience theory, and child and adolescent development
- Demonstrates interest to acquire knowledge and skills, and effective use in models and tools, such as, Trauma System Therapy (TST), Positive Behavioural Interventions and Support (PBIS), Structured Decision Making (SDM), _Child and Adolescent Needs and Strengths_ (_CANS_)
- Shows interest and commitment in ensuring fidelity of treatment models used in TGH
- Registered Social Worker (RSW) with the Singapore Association of Social Workers or qualify to be accredited as an RSW
- Good communication and interpersonal skills - able to relate easily with children and adults
- Good team player with good collaboration skills
- Good report writing skills
