Gs-bm Head of Department Ops Asia

**Job purpose**
This position has the overall responsibility for Group Banking and Market Operations in Asia. The incumbent will supervise, lead and guide the Local Heads and staff of GS-BM Operations Asia. The teams are primarily

responsible for all trade settlement, payment services (domestic and cross-border), administration and control of locally booked transactions, loan administration function of any locally booked loans and as point-of contact / client service staff towards local sales, trading and origination teams for business booked centrally into the global infrastructure of GS-BM and settled in Head Office or other global centres of competence for the respective products and including business management for GS-BM Asia.

This position is also accountable for formulating long and short-term strategies for the support of GS-BM back
- office functions in Asia, including formulating and implementing systems procedures to meet approved strategy and execute within established policies to ensure sound operational practices and support to the business.

**Main Task**
a. Provide directions, support and controls of operational and administrative functions for GS-BM Operations Asia through evaluation and identification of weaknesses of the current process, make recommendations for/and implement changes where necessary.

b. Adopt holistic approach aimed at improvements by means of promoting efficiency and effectiveness of the processes within GS-BM Operations Asia.

c. Establish guidelines, objectives and work plans to improve administrative, operational control and efficiency.

d. Motivate and reach out to the staff to solicit their support on the importance of change management and team building through effective communication and other relevant activities.

e. Formulate policy changes and actively participate in HQ’s policies and systems to ensure policies and systems are suitable to Asia needs by identifying and analysing relevant changes.

f. Responsible for the strict compliance of the rules and regulations with regards to the observance of the minimum requirements.

g. Constantly re-evaluate short-terms goals and targets.

h. Perform a pivotal role in ensuring compliance with AML/Sanctions, local and Head Office regulations and guidance

i. Act in line strictly with all internal and external laws, policies, and guidelines e.g. ComValues, Culture of Integrity, Code of Conduct, ABC Policy, TRM etc.

**Formal education**
Degree in Banking and Finance or Business or equivalent.

Alternatively, at least 5 years’ experience in comparable managerial role within the banking industry
