Asia-pacific Editor, Reuters Breakingviews

We’re looking for an experienced and highly motivated financial journalist to lead our group of columnists writing about finance and economics across the Asia-Pacific region, including China, Australia, India and Japan. This is an opportunity to set the agenda on corporate finance, economics, markets, and policy across the region. Working with the Global Editor, you will help shape our coverage and spearhead the development and launch of new editorial initiatives.
In collaboration with editors and columnists in the region, as well as colleagues around the world, you will ensure seamless coverage of important breaking stories while identifying cross-border themes. You will also help to conceive and develop graphics, videos, podcasts and other ways to bring views to life.
The role demands curiosity, open-mindedness, empathy and thriving on tight deadlines. An aptitude for organization and strategic, long-term thinking is also essential.
**About the job**
As Asia-Pacific Editor for Reuters Breakingviews, you will:
- Lead a team of editors and columnists to produce agenda-setting financial insight for subscribers and Reuters clients, to tight deadlines.
- Establish and maintain contacts with senior executives, bankers, investors, and policymakers.
- Work with the Global Editor as well as editors and columnists in North America and EMEA to ensure seamless coverage of important stories while identifying cross-border themes.
- Collaborate with the rest of Reuters to plan events, liaise on big stories, and promote Breakingviews.
- Work with commercial teams to identify opportunities to expand our readership and develop new products.
- Raise Breakingviews’ profile by participating in conferences, appearing on television and radio, and social media.
**About you**
To be our Asia-Pacific editor, you are likely to have:
- Demonstrable ability to generate agenda-setting insights for a sophisticated global audience.
- Detailed knowledge of banks, financial markets, and the core concepts of corporate finance.
- Experience of recruiting, motivating and managing teams of skilled financial journalists.
- A solid base of high-level contacts among bankers, investors, and policymakers.
This job is advertised with a Singapore base but we will consider other locations for applicants already resident in Asia.
