As Senior Counsel, Legal & Compliance, APAC, you will be relied upon to work with the Senior Managing Counsel in the region, and work directly alongside business clients, drawing upon your legal knowledge, business acumen and excellent drafting and management skills to provide on-the-ground support. You will provide impactful analysis and advice on legal questions needed to identify and unlock challenges and manage potential legal issues, ultimately helping to achieve the functional business objectives.

**Responsibility**
- Liaising directly with APAC business units as a reliable and commercially minded first point of contact within legal for specific projects and business stakeholders.
- Review and action claims, complaints, and other legal demands, whilst balancing risk and cost, to protect the company’s interests.
- Review global and local marketing, product and other initiatives to ensure compliance with local laws and best practice.
- Engage assistance from and partner with other members of the Legal and Public Affairs team (LPA) in Amsterdam (e.g.Commercial & Corporate, Competition & Consumer, Compliance & Ethics, Employment, Privacy & Law Enforcement Response, Product & Fintech, and Public Affairs) on a wide range of issues (including IP, contracts, media queries, licenses, permits, etc.).
- Research new regulatory and other legal topics and confidentially turn research into pragmatic legal advice and actions.
- Support with the creation and implementation of efficient and scalable ways of working to enable sustainable business growth.
- Support compliance training and other activities in accordance with established legal and company standards to protect the organization’s reputation and business interests

**Knowledge and Skill**
- J.D. degree, admission to the Singapore Bar preferred
- At least 5-8 years’ experience in a reputable law firm or in-house team
- Strong experience handling legal issues, either in-house or at a law firm, across the APAC region. E-commerce related experience would be a plus.
- Able to work independently as well as in a team, with excellent interpersonal and communication skills (written and oral) and a professional and collaborative approach
- Excellent attention to detail
- Clear, well structured and organised, with strong organizational and project management skills and ability to meet deadlines, prioritising appropriately
- Excellent drafting skills
- Confidence in your ability to provide assistance to the legal team and business units
- Deep understanding of balancing risk and business requirements
- Ability to thrive within a dynamic, multidisciplinary and multicultural team located in diverse locations
- Growth mindset
- Fluency in regional language preferred
- Based in Singapore
- Able to travel as and when required
