[What you will be working on]
- Plan and execute audit of taxpayers’ returns under IRAS’ compliance programmes to ensure accuracy of corporate tax assessments
- Communicate with taxpayers and tax agents to gather information and discuss tax issues, including through meetings and site visits
- Conduct targeted education programmes for selected industry groups to enhance voluntary compliance
- Keep abreast of tax risk areas in respective industry group and ensure that these are managed in an effective and efficient manner
- Review existing policies and administrative rules to ensure that they remain relevant
- Design, build and test IT systems to digitalise and automate the tax audit and assessment process
[What we are looking for]
- Background in Accountancy, Business Administration or Economics with at least 5 years of experience handling corporate tax work
- Practical experience in tax assessment functions e.g. Income Tax or Corporate Tax and accounting
- Good knowledge of corporate income tax laws and practices
- Knowledge of principles of accounting, tax and company law
- Knowledge of the audit process, audit methodologies, consequences of the different types of audit determinations etc
- Preferably have basic GST knowledge
- Strong ability to question and probe
- Meticulous and analytical
- Good verbal, written communication skills and negotiation skills
- Resourceful and able to work independently in a team environment
- Organised and systematic in handling information and data
