The Data Warehouse Developer is critical in managing and optimising the University’s data warehouse to meet its current and future business intelligence and reporting needs.

This individual collaborates with the Data Architect Specialist and other units to uphold and enhance the technical efficacy of the BI&A Data Warehouse, balancing current operational demands with forward-looking technology strategies.
- Data Warehouse Development: Engage in ETL programming, scripting, and development testing to enhance the data warehouse’s functionality and efficiency.
- Data Management and Automation: Implement processes to control data access, ensuring data availability, integrity, and recovery.
- Performance Optimisation: Continuously optimise data integration processes for maximum efficiency and reliability.
- Quality Assurance: Design and execute comprehensive unit tests, ensuring the robustness and accuracy of the data warehouse.
- Data Issue Resolution: Proactively address and resolve data-related issues, maintaining the data warehouse’s integrity.
- Operational Monitoring: Oversee the data warehouse’s operations, providing expert guidance and insights.
- Maintenance and Enhancement: Support the ongoing maintenance and enhancement of the data warehouse infrastructure.
- Security Protocols: Establish and manage robust security measures for safeguarding data.
- Stakeholder Collaborations: Work with stakeholders to understand and meet BI and analytics requirements.
- Project Facilitation: Lead projects within the BI and analytics domain, ensuring timely and effective delivery.
- Compliance and Best Practices: Ensure adherence to IT governance standards and maintain high-quality documentation.
- Professional Development: Participate in training and development related to data warehousing and emerging technologies
- Perform other tasks and activities as supervisors assign

**Job Requirements**:

- A good undergraduate or graduate degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, Data Science, or a related field from a recognised University.
- Minimum of 3-5 years of experience in data warehouse development and management.
- Proficiency in ETL programming and scripting, with experience in IBM InfoSphere DataStage as an advantage.
- Strong experience with database technologies and SQL, notably SQL Server.
- Knowledge of data warehouse methodologies and best practices.
- Familiarity with performance tuning and optimisation of data processes.
- Demonstrated skills using BI tools, particularly Power BI, for analytics and reporting.
- Knowledge of data governance, compliance standards, and quality documentation practices.
- Practical experience or a strong understanding of cloud-native data warehousing solutions is an added advantage.
- Strong ability to analyse complex data and translate it into actionable insights.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills, capable of effectively conveying technical concepts.
- Flexibility to adapt to changing technologies and requirements.
- Ability to work collaboratively with various units within the University.
- Meticulous attention to detail, ensuring accuracy and quality in data management.
