**Medical Technologist (Cytopathology)**

A medical technologist working in Cytopathology will perform high-complexity testing of gynae and non-gynae cytology specimens. He or she will be involved in the preparation of smears and subsequent microscopic evaluation of slides. More experienced medical technologists will perform on-site fine needle aspiration (FNA) adequacy assessment, quality monitoring and training/education.

**Your responsibilities include**:

- Specimen reception - Assessment of specimens received for suitability and acceptance. Includes case accessioning and order entry into the laboratory information system.
- Processing and staining of cytology specimens - Examination and recording of gross description of specimens and preparation of smears.
- Perform microscopic evaluation prepared smears and prepare reports for pathologists.
- Perform on-site fine needle aspiration (FNA) adequacy assessment.
- Quality control monitoring.
- Training and education activities.

**Job Requirements**:

- Preferably at least a Bachelor's Degree in Biological Sciences or other equivalent qualification.
- International Academy of Cytology (IAC) or other equivalent certification will be advantageous.
