DESIGNATION : IT Business Analyst - Finance

RESPONSIBILITIES

**Position Description**

The ‘Business Analyst - Finance IT’ is a role in the JERAGM IT Department working as part of a small team alongside Application Support Analysts, Developers and QA.

Their work will be for the Finance Team who are responsible for Invoicing, Financial Reporting and Tax. The role will involve business and system analysis focused on the Trading systems of record and GL. This includes Allegro Horizon, IMOS, SUN and associated interfaces.
- Operational Support
- Helping users run the EOM process
- Analysing user problems and identifying root causes in the GL or ETRM systems
- Managing issues to resolution via IT Support or through other Business Teams
- Small Change and Projects
- Working with the Finance users to identify their needs
- Documenting requirements in a structured way using plain English that can be understood by both Finance users and technical teams
- Creating worked examples and prototypes in Excel
- Performing analysis to identify system change requirements using SQL or other technical tools where appropriate
- Working with other members of the IT team or Vendors to estimate changes
- Running prioritisation and status update meetings with Finance users around their backlog
- Working as functional ‘Product Owner’ to support technical delivery teams as they progress through design, development, testing, UAT and release planning
- Tracking and chasing actions with other teams
- Running training and UAT
- Supporting release planning and go-live
- Creating user documentation and providing hyper-care

The Business Analyst will sit close to the Finance team and they will be required to be proactive in engaging with them in a collaborative and open manner. They must be able to communicate effectively with users and technical teams when explaining Finance concepts and associated system requirements. They must be comfortable running meetings and workshops across larger groups made up of users and technical teams.

They will be required to be a self-starter and effective at working independently. Their analysis work must be structured and methodical, at the same time as taking a pragmatic approach to problem solving.

QUALIFICATIONS

**Key Qualifications and Experience**
- 5 years’ experience as a Business Analyst in Finance IT with a trading house, investment bank, or through a tier-1 vendor/consultancy
- Strong understanding of Accounting and Financial Reporting - preferably with Professional Accounting Qualification
- General Ledger - SUN, SAP or similar
- ETRM e.g. Allegro, Openlink Endur, Aspect or similar
- Experience in one or more of the following technical tools: SQL, Power BI, Excel
