Seagate Research Group is seeking an engineer in the exciting area of research in emerging technologies. This position offers a variety of opportunities to design prototypes, experiments and benchmark innovative ideas and concepts in projects.

**About the role - you will**:
**About you**:

- Degree in Material Science, Chemistry, Chemical Engineering or Bioengineering
- Project or work experience in DNA chips for data will be beneficial
- Some knowledge in Biochemistry or DNA sequencing is preferred
- Good communication skills
- Good team player and can work independently
- A ‘hands-on’ person who welcomes challenges
- Research oriented with analytical thinking

**Your experience includes**:

- Research, evaluate and liaise with vendors materials and chemicals suitability for projects needs
- Knowledge and understanding of safe practices for handling of materials/chemicals
- Engagement in experiments/projects involving materials and/or chemicals

**Location**:
The Shugart site (named after Seagate’s founder, Al Shugart) is a research and design center. Easily accessible from the One-North MRT Station, many employees choose to take mass-transportation to work. Ample free on-site parking is also available. Being a purpose built building, The Shugart has excellent employee recreational facilities. Take an active break at our badminton courts, table tennis tables, in-house gym and recreation rooms. Our yoga and zumba classes are very popular. We also offer classes and interest groups in photography, gardening and foreign languages, and have various on-site celebrations, and community volunteer opportunities.

In response to COVID-19, this position may temporarily begin and be performed remotely. Seagate is actively evaluating the virus and our employees' health and safety are our top priority. In the future, this position will report to and be performed at our **SSDC - The Shugart** location.
