**About the role**

The Data Engineer is responsible for building and maintaining Horizons Data Platform and turns data into actionable insights, dashboards and reports.

**Your Main Mission**:

- Build a data platform from scratch.
- Design a data analytics and reporting strategy.
- Define and document processes around data processing, BI, reporting.
- Implement data warehouse, data pipelines and data analytics solutions.
- Build actionable reporting and dashboards for various Horizons department.
- Define the roadmap to continue evolving the data platform.
- Hire and train other data engineers.
- Ensure highest quality and accuracy of data and simplicity of data flows.
- Optimize storage and I/O for performance and cost efficiency.
- Advocate a data-oriented culture within the team and the entire company.
- Coach, mentor, and spread the word about our best practices inside and outside of Horizons.

**Your Day-to-Day**:

- Work in a team of talented individuals and be a Technical Lead for other Engineers.
- Daily standup practice to keep everyone aligned and supported in their role.
- Decide your priorities and the technical direction of the team.
- Allocate time to learning and growing your skills as well as the skills of the other Data Engineers.

**What you bring**:
**Experience**:

- 7+ years experience in the Software industry.
- 3+ years experience in a Data Engineer role.
- Experience in building data projects from scratch.
- Experience in a structured data analytics and BI department.
- Experience communicating with C level.
- Strong experience in Python and data analytics tools such as Jupyter, Panda, visualization tools.
- Working experience in Power BI or Tableau.
- Strong SQL and database management skills.
- AWS knowledge.
- Built and deployed Data Warehouse or Data Lake, Data pipelines in production.
- Knowledge in various ETL solutions.
- Nice to have: Experience in the Financial or HR industry.
- Nice to have: Experience in Machine Learning.

**Soft skills**:
