Chief Underwriting Officer

In collaboration with Casualty Leadership, identifies, develops and executes underwriting strategy for the business unit. Creates, monitors and communicates underwriting directives for the business unit while ensuring a consistent approach and delivery across the business. This position will work with various business functions including data analytics, actuarial, cat management, legal and compliance.

**Responsibilities**:
Underwriting Information Management - Tracks key performance indicators including retention ratios, rate change and new business metrics. Working across the business to identify potential shortcoming, potential issues and develops plans to minimize impact to the business.

Chief Underwriting Office - Communication and collaboration with the Chief Underwriting Office to ensure alignment, collaboration and success on all projects and initiatives.

Portfolio Management - Together with actuarial, leads and manages the portfolio management process within the region for Casualty. Produces standard reports identifying areas of profitability and loss within individual portfolios, and develops clear, firm, and actionable outcomes to maximize margin within each line of business.

Market Research and Product Development - Responsible for the review of potential new lines of business or market opportunity, product design and compliance. Works together with Product line leadership in the analysis of potential new opportunities, assists in product design and review process with legal, compliance and Regional / International P&C Management.

Peer Reviews, Underwriting Audits and Underwriting Referrals - together with the product line leadership take ownership of the Peer Review and Underwriting Audit process to ensure the successful completion of these activities. Monitors field compliance with key underwriting directives and follows up on recommendations. Assist with Underwriting Referrals as required

Treaty Reinsurance - Owns the process of managing the information development for the renewal of the various local and CHUBB Overseas General (COG) Casualty treaties. Works together with Ceded Re in the preparation of any Reinsurance Committee presentations required for local cessions.

Underwriting Guidelines - in collaboration with Regional and International Product Line leadership, creates and distributes underwriting directives for all Casualty products units.

Information Technology - acts as the underwriting liaison with the CHUBB Information Technology team on all major IT projects including Underwriting Portal, GenNext upgrades, etc.

Policy Wordings - Working together with Legal and Product line leadership, responsible for the approval process, agreement of, and drafting of new policy wordings within Casualty.

Operations - acts as the underwriting liaison with Regional Operations. Reviews the underwriting process in each country and works with Regional Operations and the SSU to ensure we are delivering optimal efficiency within the budget and technical constraints of the business.

Training and Education - Leads Casualty Learning and Development, develops and executes relevant training programs on all lines of business.

Underwriting Authority - Manages all delegation of underwriting authority within Asia

**Qualifications**:
Minimum of 10 Years of underwriting experience

High level of product knowledge

Exposure analysis

Forms and coverage

Rating principles and mechanics

Basic legal and regulatory requirements
