The Cardiovascular and Metabolic Disorders (CVMD) Programme houses state-of-the-art technologies for profiling mitochondrial function and metabolic adaptations in human patients and other model organisms, and undertakes translational and clinical research in cardiovascular and metabolic disorders.
Dr. Mia studies the molecular mechanisms that regulate cardiovascular and pulmonary diseases. Our long-standing research interests are in the areas of congenital and adult cardiovascular diseases (ischaemic heart, cardiac fibrosis, cardiac hypertrophy and heart failure). In the particular project, we are studying the role of fibroblasts and macrophages that impact fibrotic disorders including cardiac and pulmonary fibrosis. His laboratory uses mouse as a model system and combines molecular and cellular biology, biochemistry, and genomics techniques to study cardiovascular diseases.

- Work with the PI to design, develop, and carry out research projects.
- Conduct accurate monitoring, documenting and reporting of experimental results and/or research findings.
- Assist researchers in the laboratory.
- Contribute to project management, presentations and publications of research work.
- Assist with general upkeep of laboratory needs, maintain safety protocols, provide technical support and establish work procedures to ongoing research projects.
- Perform other related duties incidental to the work described therein.
**Job Requirements**:
- Prior experience in Cardiovascular and/or Pulmonary research would be advantageous.
- Demonstrated knowledge, skills and expertise in molecular biology, Histology, immunohistochemistry, microscopy, cell culture and animal (rodent/mice) handling is strongly preferred.
- Knowledge of the scientific background relevant to the research area.
- Possess strong interpersonal communications skills with excellent written, oral communication and computer skills.
- A strong team player who is open-minded, energetic, highly motivated and can work collaboratively in an interdisciplinary team and diverse workforce.
