Senior Database Administrator

**Background**

We are seeking an experienced Senior SQL Database Administrator with expertise in managing and optimizing SQL databases, particularly with hands-on experience in AWS RDS (Relational Database Service). As a Senior SQL DBA, you will play a crucial role in designing, implementing, and maintaining our database infrastructure to ensure high availability, performance, and data integrity.

**Responsibilities**
- **Database Design and Implementation**:Collaborate with software development teams and system architects to design and implement scalable and efficient SQL database solutions using AWS RDS. Ensure appropriate schema design, indexing, and partitioning to optimize performance and data retrieval.
- **AWS RDS Management**:Deploy and configure SQL databases on AWS RDS, including instance provisioning, storage allocation, and security settings. Monitor and manage database instances, automated backups, and high availability configurations.
- **Performance Tuning and Optimization**:Identify and resolve performance bottlenecks through query optimization, index tuning, and database parameter adjustments. Monitor and analyze database performance metrics and proactively implement optimizations to enhance efficiency and response times.
- **Database Security and Compliance**:Implement and enforce security best practices, including data encryption, user access controls, and regular vulnerability assessments. Ensure compliance with industry standards, data protection regulations, and internal security policies.
- **Backup and Recovery**:Design and implement robust backup and recovery strategies to ensure data integrity and availability. Perform regular backups, test restore procedures, and maintain disaster recovery plans.
- **Database Monitoring and Troubleshooting**:Monitor database systems to identify and resolve issues proactively. Investigate and troubleshoot database incidents, performance anomalies, and data inconsistencies. Provide timely resolution and root cause analysis.
- **Documentation and Knowledge Sharing**:Maintain accurate documentation of database configurations, processes, and procedures. Create and update technical documentation, guidelines, and best practices. Share knowledge with team members and provide mentorship when required.
- **Collaboration and Communication**:Collaborate with cross-functional teams, including developers, system administrators, and network engineers, to resolve database-related issues. Communicate effectively with stakeholders to gather requirements, provide status updates, and offer technical guidance.

**_Skills & Experience _**
- Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or a related field (or equivalent work experience).
- Proven experience as a SQL Database Administrator, **preferably in a senior or lead role.**:

- Strong expertise inmanaging SQL databases, with a focus on Microsoft SQL Server or My SQL
- Hands-on experience with AWS RDS, including database provisioning, monitoring, and high availability configurations.
- Proficiency in SQL query optimization, performance tuning, and troubleshooting.
- Knowledge of databasesecurity principles, encryption, and compliance standards.
- Experience in backup andrecovery strategies, including disaster recovery planning.
- Familiarity withdatabase monitoring tools and performance analysis.
- Excellent problem-solving and analytical skills, with the ability to diagnose and resolve complex database issues.
- Strong communication and collaboration skills to work effectively in a team environment.
- AWS certifications, such as AWS Certified Database - Specialty, are a plus.
