Head of Shipping and of Health, Safety

Overview:
The Head of Shipping and of HS&E is mainly responsible for leading maritime excellence in Holcim Trading (HT) and within Holcim Group as a whole, besides driving and managing HS&E for HT as a company. This entails contributing to the continuous development and improvement of related processes, guarantee efficiency and compliance in Shipping activities from contracting to execution, and as well defining, implementing and managing HS&E standards and initiatives of Trading related activities, in line with the Holcim Group’s policies and directives.

Responsibilities**:Shipping**:

- Ensure alignment and compliance of Holcim Shipping activities with all relevant Group policies and procedures and contribute to their upgrading whenever adjustments and improvements are required, as a result of changing industry regulations, standards, and/or internal process evolution
- Continuously review and upgrade the Holcim Shipping Policy and any other process, policy or tools related to Shipping and ship-shore activities, including any improvements required by updated market regulations and optimized internal processes (along the entire process including tendering, procurement, supplier and vessel qualification, contracting, execution, collection, reporting and performance management)
- Ensure compliance adherence with the above mentioned processes and policies within Holcim Trading/Shipping and lead any relevant group countries/functions education/consultancy on the matter, including developing and implementing any necessary controls and tools for monitoring performance and rigorous execution
- Contribute to the definition of the overall strategy definition of other departments of HT and lead the shipping activities required to execute it
- In line with the overall supply chain strategy execution, manage the chartering and vessel operation’s team and/or providers and overseeing that all the compliance, internal regulations and standards including HS&E are followed rigorously
- For any owned/long term or spot time chartered vessel, manage all the activities related to vessel operation,, ownership, contract management, day to day operation (including but not limited to voyage planning, relevant insurances, bunkering, laytime calculations, instructions to crew, cost, security and safety risk assessments and mitigation, HS&E compliance utilization planning and optimization, etc.), respective P&L management and reporting as well as forecasting in collaboration with Finance and any other HT relevant departments
- Management of maritime claims & litigations (notice, handling, arbitration )
- Continuously defining, reviewing, improving and managing the charter parties related to any type of vessel chartering and/or containers affreightment and overview proper execution and compliance, including any applicable insurances requirements and adequate liability allocation, in collaboration with the legal department
- Provide intelligence and regular reporting on shipping/freight market worldwide and by market/micro market including future projections and recommendations
- Maintain a global asset database of all ships/barges and other vessels owned/time chartered within the Group and monitor their efficiency, continuously assessing and suggesting improvements and synergy opportunities to be developed and implemented within HT and with other Group functions and/or countries
- Support all the activities related to reporting, internal controlling, auditing, as required by HT and Holcim Group’s internal standards and management cycle
- Coordination and management of relationship and information sharing with other departments in HT, in the Group functions and/or Countries and with external stakeholders (shipping agents, owners/operators, port authorities, government bodies, ) as relevant for ensuring good execution of shipping activities
- Contribute to overall Shipping budget definition and management and ensure financial and other performance objectives are met in shipping and for HT in general
- Develops, implements and manages relevant performance key metrics and indicators for full understanding of shipping operational performance and puts in place respective actions for continuous improvement and objectives’ achievement, in collaboration with Supply Chain, Operations and other relevant departments (two way/mutual challenging towards global improvement and efficiency)
- Lead and/or contribute to any Holcim Trading and/or Holcim Group/Countries’ initiatives and projects related to maritime activities
**Health, Safety & Environment**:
