**Head of Finance
**Job Purpose**

Reporting directly to the General Manager, the Head of Finance will be responsible for maximising impact for athletes through the delivery of effective and efficient financial performance across the sport association’s various projects in a highly critical yet flexible position.

This includes preparation of monthly and quarterly management accounts, annual budgeting, quarterly reforecasting and ad hoc analysis as required. This is to provide support in decision-making across relevant areas of the organisation while collaborating with the various department heads and management committee in its financial decision-making process.

**Primary Responsibilities**

The Head of Finance will provide critical strategic and financial decision support to various departments to underpin strong financial performance. Key duties include:
**Business Partnering and Strategic Financial Decision Support**
- Assisting the teams in developing their financial strategy
- Providing financial and commercial insight and challenge to ensure best value for money and efficiencies
- Working with budget holders to optimise its disbursement of funds
- Developing the financial acumen of budget holders through constructive dialogue and discussion

**Financial Processes and Project Support**
- Driving process improvements to improve overall efficiency and control
- Implementing finance support to organisation-wide initiatives and Finance projects

**Budgeting, Forecasting and Monthly Reporting**
- Managing all aspects of forecasts, budgets and longer-term financial plans, working together with business areas. Analysing, commenting on and challenging proposed plans throughout the process
- Bettering the impact of financial reporting on organisational performance

**Donor Reporting**
- Supporting the business on the financial components of donor reporting, ensuring reporting timelines are met and compliance with guidelines and requirements
- Optimising fundraising initiatives with in-depth knowledge of available grants and subsidies

**Person Profile**

**Experience**
- Qualified accountant
- Experience in the preparation of revenue budgets and forecasts as well as the analysis of variances between actual and budgeted/forecasted expenditure
- Experience modelling financial scenarios and preparing high level documentation to aid decision-making
- Experience in registered charities preferred
- Strong Microsoft Office skills with advanced Excel skills

- Ability to identify and address issues in a succinct and confident manner
- Able to juggle multiple priorities and deliverables and respond effectively to delegation of tasks
- Ability to deliver and remain calm and confident in rapidly changing and time-pressured environments
- Ability to establish professional credibility quickly with colleagues, and to interact effectively at all levels and across all departments
