A Project Officer position is currently available in the School of Physical and Mathematical Sciences (SPMS) to perform theoretical quantum materials research in quantum geometrical materials. Specifically, the Project Officer will support the group’s efforts in understanding and predicting new photoresponses and opto-electronic functionality in quantum materials.

**Responsibilities**:

- Perform theoretical quantum materials research in quantum geometrical materials specifically in opto-electronic and photoresponse functionality in quantum materials
- Write and implement code to evaluate the quantum responses of materials
- Perform analytical analysis of opto-electronic responses, including formulating theoretical formalism for Describing unconventional quantum geometrical responses.
- Write academic research articles and, if assigned, be able to present research work at scientific conferences and meetings

**Job Requirements**
- A Bachelor’s degree in Physics
- Strong ability and skills in theoretical condensed matter tools that include nonlinear electronic response theory at finite momentum and frequency
- Skills in formulating and using effective electronic models of a range of quantum materials
- Track record of publications in opto-electronic behavior of quantum materials
- Skills in implementing and coding numerical calculations of quantum geometrical quantities
