As Head of Year, you will be guided by the Director of Student Development and collaborate closely with the wider Student Development Team -including the HOD Character & Citizenship Education (CCE), Counselling Team, Discipline Committee, ECG Officer, and Special Education Specialist - as well as staff and parents. Your leadership will be key in cultivating a caring and supportive culture, while designing and implementing developmentally appropriate and holistic student development programmes.
You will lead your level in:
- Fostering a culture of care and excellence, where student-athletes are engaged, motivated, and equipped to thrive in their academic and sporting pursuits
- Designing, implementing, and reviewing structured student development curricula and programmes aligned with the MOE’s 21st Century Competencies (21CC) Framework
- Identifying and supporting students with additional needs and coordinating timely interventions in partnership with relevant stakeholders
- Building staff capacity through coaching and professional development, equipping teachers with competencies to guide, mentor, and support student-athletes
- Working with staff, parents, and external partners to promote student well-being and social-emotional competencies across the cohort

**Requirements**:
- At least 5 years of teaching and leadership experience in secondary school or pre-university institutions
- Current or prior appointment as Year Head, HOD Student Development/Management, or HOD Discipline is preferred
- A recognised teaching qualification, such as the Postgraduate Diploma in Education from the National Institute of Education (Singapore), or equivalent
- Training or experience in restorative practices, special educational needs, counselling, or related areas will be an added advantage
- A genuine interest in sports and supporting student-athletes is preferred

The Singapore Sports School (SSP) is a specialised independent school dedicated to the optimal sports development and academic rigour of our talented student-athletes. We believe in providing selected student-athletes, who have the ability to excel in sports, with the necessary support to pursue excellence in both sports and academics. With a team of dedicated teachers and experienced sports coaches and sports scientists, we provide a sound education experience, professional coaching expertise as well as various post-secondary pathways to enable them to achieve their sporting dreams and academic excellence.
The appointed Youth Head Coach will be responsible for planning, implementing and evaluating the training and competition plans for student-athletes towards high performance in sports, based on long-term athlete development principles. This will include student-athletes in STTA’s National Youth set-up, i.e., the School-Within-School (SWS) Programme in SSP, Junior Development Squad (JDS) and Youth Training Squad (YTS). The appointed Youth Head Coach will prepare quarterly reports on the overall performance and progress of the various teams. In addition, the appointed Youth Head Coach will conduct regular review with each national youth paddler to discuss performance progress and goals. He/She will work with the SSP General Manager, STTA Senior High Performance Manager, fellow coaches, school staff and external stakeholders to achieve the sporting goals and holistic development of the student-athletes.
**Requirements**:
- At least 10 years’ experience of competitive coaching with elite and developmental youth athletes
- Able to lead, mentor and develop a team of coaches to increase their capabilities and deliver a higher standard of coaching
- Able to work as part of a team while showing initiative and independence in delivering the assigned duties
- Possess the equivalent of the ITTF Level 2 and/or an international table tennis coaching qualification recognised by ITTF
