Research Analyst

Do you want to be an integral part of creating market views and trading strategies for a leading dry cargo operator?

NORDEN is one of the largest and most active dry cargo operators in the shipping industry. We are looking to expand our research team to further strengthen our insights into the short-term developments in the dry cargo market.

As a Research Analyst, your focus will be to closely collaborate with your primary stakeholders in chartering, supporting commercial decision making. As a contributor to the decision-making process, your responsibility will be to formulate clear and data-driven market views.

**Welcome to the Research team**
NORDEN’s research team is a community of research individuals that work closely together while being located throughout the organisation. The expansion of the team includes positions in both Copenhagen and Singapore.

While you will report to the Head of Research in Copenhagen, you will also be part of the collaborative regional chartering team. The value creation of your analysis will depend heavily on your ability to communicate with the chartering teams, with whom you will be in constant interaction. This requires an outgoing personality and enthusiasm for building relationships in an informal but ambitious culture.

**The tasks that await you**
Your role will be to develop insights to commodity and freight fundamentals and insure these are incorporated into trading strategies and the day-to-day commercial actions.

More specifically your primary responsibilities will be to:

- Create short term market views based on structured shipping market analysis.
- Communicate market insights.
- Ensure all relevant data and market information is available and well organised.
- Be a key authority for selected commodities while being responsible for creating forecasts for trade.
- Be the bridge between internal stakeholders; especially our commercial teams and our highly skilled data scientists, enabling them to build advanced models and ensuring that the models become an integrated part of the decision-making process.
- Work in close collaboration with our data engineering team to strengthen NORDEN’s already expansive data foundation.

**Your competencies and qualifications**
To be successful in this role, it is important that you can see yourself in the below statements:
- You are fluent in English.
- You already hold working experience from a similar position. This could be in short-term research and analysis in shipping or in commodity trading.
- You have great hands-on experience in Excel, PowerPoint and possibly also in PowerBI and SQL.
- You are analytical and curious.
- You are a great communicator.
