Network Systems

We are a small school with large ambitions. The role carries multiple responsibilities, not just networking, and involves managing change. The network infrastructure covers wired and wireless operations, physical and virtual servers, server room(s), firewalls, and network wiring, including its supporting cabinets or closets. ICT support covers support and troubleshooting of users’ needs, manning the physical help desk at peak periods and contributing to our knowledge base.

**Main Responsibilities**:

- Serves as the main technical point of contact for all XCL Singapore-based schools and Admin,
- Perform onsite installation, configuration and maintenance of network equipment including routers, switches, DNS and DHCP,
- Configuring firewalls, routing and switching to maximise network efficiency and security,
- Maximising network performance through ongoing monitoring and troubleshooting,
- Planning, implementing, managing, monitoring and upgrading security measures to protect the organisation’s data, systems and networks,
- Maintain the VolP service (Avaya) and all other phone services,
- Manages and maintains the school’s systems that include yet are not limited to:

- Microsoft Active Directory (AD), Azure AD and Office 365 Tenant,
- Aruba ClearPass for wireless network management,
- FortiGate Firewall for security and online safety,
- JAMF Pro Suite of software for software deployment and device management,
- Provide support on issues relating to security solutions (e.g., endpoint security solutions, data loss prevention solutions, intrusion detection systems) and following up on any breaches,
- Ensuring that the organisation’s data and infrastructure are protected by enabling the appropriate security controls,
- Testing and identifying network and system vulnerabilities,
- Ensure all security solutions are working and comply with policy and procedures. Respond to and remediate timely on any service outages,
- Procuring network equipment and managing subcontractors.

**System Development**:

- To maintain and contribute to the development of the larger school-wide systems infrastructure growth and development which includes documentation and cross-training for team members,
- Pursue ongoing professional development and certifications by keeping current with infrastructure and network systems development,
- Actively participate in the development, planning and implementing efficient communication systems for use both within the school and between school and home.

**Technical & Soft Skills**:

- Familiarity with Windows OS, macOS and iOS,
- Aruba wired and wireless networking solutions,
- Microsoft server solutions,
- Fortinet security solutions,
- Network management solutions,
- SMTP/DNS/DHCP/LDAP services.

**Person Specifications**:

- Degree in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, IT equivalent or related fields,
- Two years experience in technology infrastructure and networking support; ideally four years in total of supporting ICT,
- Certifications such as CCNA, CCNP and other relevant IT industry certificates beneficial,
- Strong understanding of network infrastructure and network hardware,
- An ability to work independently, diligently, juggle priorities and meet deadlines,
- Strong documentation skills and an ability to learn,
- Keeps abreast of industry news and trends,
- Good interpersonal skills and positive attitude,
- Flexible problem solver open to multiple points of view,
- An ability to learn, create knowledge and share with the team.
