DESIGNATION : Senior Manager, Office of Corporate Communications and Marketing
RESPONSIBILITIES
- Principal Communications Counsel and Media Engagement
- Support Revenue Generation and Brand Building by contributing to the strategic comms planning and publicity efforts for the School of Computing and Information Systems and College of Graduate Research Studies
- Provide comms counsel, create compelling content and develop media publicity for the Offices, Centres and Institutes
- Build the University’s brand and reputation by collaborating closely with the Offices, Centres and Institutes to understand their communication needs and objectives and identify publicity opportunities across digital and print platforms
- Proactively generate prominent press coverage and manage press queries for the abovementioned; craft various communication materials including speeches and messages for SMU Senior Management and develop content for the corporate website
- Thought Leadership and Research Publicity
- Communication, planning and execution of media publicity efforts to showcase SMU’s thought leadership through City Dialogues, Presidential Distinguished Lecturer Series as well via SMU City Perspectives
- Drive awareness of SMU’s research through media pitches and commentary articles to international media
- Issues and Crisis Communications Management
- Manage potentially sensitive issues and provide crisis communications support to the team
QUALIFICATIONS
- Bachelor’s degree in journalism, English, literature, communications or a similar discipline with at least 8 years of corporate communications experience Keen interest in current affairs, and geopolitical and socio-economic issues and is also intellectually curious
- Ability to translate research data into powerful stories to engage audiences
- Strong strategic, analytical thinking skills, with demonstrated excellence in creating and articulating ideas
- Excellent writing, editing and oral communications skills - ability to produce compelling content for internal and external audiences to achieve desired results
- Strong organisational skills with ability to successfully manage multiple assignments simultaneously while collaborating with multiple teams across the university
- Experience in integrated communications, including creating content for digital platforms and social media
- Creative, state-of-the-art communications knowledge who understands emerging technologies, communication best practices, and has a passion for exploring new methods of communicating
- Ability to remain resilient, work well under pressure and deliver high-quality communications under tight deadlines, with excellent attention to detail
- Demonstrated teamwork and collaboration in a professional setting
