Sr. Electrical Engineer

KEY OBJECTIVES

The Sr. Electrical Engineer is responsible for carrying out Operations &maintenance of the facility’s electrical system and associated equipment with mínimal environmental impact in accordance with legislation, class, flag and the Integrated Management System (IMS).

4.0 DIMENSIONS
- Sr. Electrical Engineer support to the facility and assistance to the maintenance department
- Provide guidance to other crew members in matters pertaining to the safe operating of the facility.
- Is deemed by position to ensure that compliance to the company IMS is followed.

5.0 PRINCIPAL ACCOUNTABILITIES
- Reports to the E&I Supervisor, and directly to Offshore Installation Manager with regards to Electrical safety and incidents.
- Responsible Person Electrical - appointed in writing by the Offshore Installation Manager - Responsible for all electrical generation and distribution systems on the Installation. (Not including Instrumentation and communication equipment).
- Responsible for the monitoring of all Electrical systems (excluding Instrument and communication systems) and take intervention actions in case of failure.
- Responsible person for all Electrical Rooms and switch rooms. Including Access control to ensure safety of all personnel working in the areas. Fully conversant with Electrical safety rules.
- Authorize Electrical Personnel in writing for different voltage levels to carry out switching and maintenance in line with company Electrical isolation procedure.
- Carry out or directly supervise all Medium Voltage switching operations and maintenance in line with company Electrical isolation procedure.

Responsible for preparation of Electrical Isolations& Switching schedules.
- Responsible for raising Risk Assessments for all electrical work and facilitate Risk Assessment reviews that involve all stakeholders involved in the tasks.
- Form part of Incident Investigation team for any Electrical system / equipment incident.
- Continuous improvement in Electrical operations, achievement of Company and Installation KPI’s.
- Responsible for preparation (in conjunction with E&I Supervisor in identification, preparation, and implementation of Management of Change (MOC) of Electrical systems or equipment to enhance operation.
- Troubleshooting and rectification of faults related to Electrical systems.
- Maintain the EX-Register pertaining to Electrical equipment. Perform Visual, Close and Detailed inspections on Ex Equipment.
- Execute preventive and corrective maintenance activities in accordance with maintenance schedule / plan in CMMS System.
- Responsible to create, review, amend all Electrical related documentation, including CMMS job instructions according to vendor recommendations, statutory compliance, site specific conditions, lessons learnt, and operating conditions.
- Participate in Root Cause Analysis (RCA) of failures and assist in preparation of break down reports (BDR).
- Training of all E&I personnel in Electrical systems, procedures and safety practices. Give guidance to the team and aid with their development.
- Perform major electrical repairs/overhaul and troubleshooting of LV/MV switchgears, Transformers and electrical distribution boards. Fully conversant with the facility HV/LV switching during normal and emergency operations.
- Experienced in blackout recovery procedures & take a lead role in recovering the power in an event of blackout.
- Operation & maintenance of Gas Turbine generators, Emergency diesel generators & synchronizing operations.
- Operation of PMS (Power Management system), Load sharing, Load shedding& ATS logics.
- Be familiar with the facilities electrical equipment, their safe operation and maintenance and will ensure that he has knowledge of safety requirements, including work permit systems, operational and emergency procedures &Company policy and instructions.
- Strong understanding of SLDs, wiring and interconnect diagrams.

Ensure compliance to HSSEQ policies, MAPP Policy, procedures and guidelines during activities.
- Comply with Process Safety guidelines during activities.
- Assist E&I Supervisor in ordering spares & consumables for Electrical Equipment.
- Maintain all electrical equipment within all applicable codes, regulations, and standards; maintain rating of all electrical hazardous area equipment in his jurisdiction
- Assist E&I and DCS/IT Technicians during failures and assist with root cause analysis of failures and equipment.
- Responsible for maintaining records & logs of electrical equipment’s, switch gears and instruments.
- Strong understanding of load lists, area classifications, etc.
- Participates in HAZOP, HAZID, PHA, safety reviews.
- As required, Participates in Factory Acceptance test/Site Acceptance test to ensure that Electrical items function as per specifications. Where necessary, works with the suppliers/contractors concerned to rectify the issues & making sure that they comply with the specifications and are ready on time.
