- **Hygiene and Sanitation**:This includes washing, disinfecting, and sanitizing the body, as well as maintaining a clean and organized work area.
- **Family Liaison**:Embalmers work with funeral arrangers to ensure the family's wishes are met and may assist with selecting caskets or urns and arranging funeral details.
- **Record Keeping**:Maintaining accurate records of the procedures performed and any belongings or valuables received with the body.
- **Health and Safety**:Adhering to health and safety regulations, including proper handling of chemicals and medical waste.

Additional Tasks:

- **Transportation**:Some embalmers may be involved in transporting bodies from the place of death to the funeral home.
- **Assisting with Funeral Services**:Embalmers may assist with tasks such as placing caskets in hearses, organizing processions, and assisting with the funeral service.
