The advanced therapies business unit of WuXi AppTec is a leading cell and gene therapy Contract Testing, Development and Manufacturing Organization (CTDMO) that is reducing the complexities of manufacturing by providing integrated platforms that enable cell and gene therapies to be developed, manufactured, and released faster and with greater predictability.

**ROLE OVERVIEW**:
Exciting new Research Associate roles are being made available to work on AAV manufacturing approaches as part of an ongoing collaboration between Singapore Bioprocessing Technology Institute (BTI) and the Company. As a Research Associate you will work on a number of housekeeping and technical activities within process development on a new method of AAV manufacture called TESSA technology. The Research Associate team will be responsible for general upkeep of the laboratory including equipment receiving & maintenance, stock control, hazardous waste management and lab organisation, as well as carry out routine tasks in viral vector production (upstream and downstream) and analytics.

You will work closely with the Group Leader and the process development scientists within the group and BTI to ensure all aspects of the laboratory are run to a high standard and meet our quality standards. An ability to follow key processes at high throughput is essential, as is time management, work ethic, working under pressure and working well as part of a team.

**KEY RESPONSIBILITIES ( **each Research Associate will have shared and their own focused areas from below depending on experience, strengths, and the needs of the group)**:

- Receive new equipment and facilitate the installation
- Assist with setting up the new laboratory and housekeeping procedures
- Carry out and record calibration & maintenance of equipment in line with quality standards
- Stock management including goods in, stock take and goods out
- Organise and drive regular lab cleaning
- Assist with proper waste management including hazardous waste in line with local regulations
- Assist with sample storage and organisation, as well as fridge & freezer space management
- Carry out routine technical tasks in upstream, downstream and analytical processes for viral vectors after training:

- Buffer and reagent preparation
- Cell maintenance
- Standard titration assays
- Other appropriate tasks
- Keep good records/ documentation for the above activities according to quality requirements
- Other appropriate duties as required

**ESSENTIAL CRITERIA**:

- Previous experience of working or studying in laboratory in a related industry.
- Excellent organisation skills
- Excellent attention to detail
- The ability to work in a team with good communication skills
- The ability and willingness to follow standard operating procedures and other policies

**DESIRABLE CRITERIA**:

- Bachelor in Biological Science. Training in a biological or scientific discipline.
- Experience of carrying out calibration and day to day maintenance on laboratory equipment such as pipettes, balances, water baths, centrifuges etc.
- Demonstrable previous experience of preparing reagent & media and/or performing analytical assays in laboratory setting
- Working in a laboratory setting to quality standards such as ISO:9001
