Broad Functions
  • Responsible for training of junior staff to ensure adherence to workflow.

  • Maintain accurate documentation in compliance with guidelines and medico-legal requirements, manually or electronically.
  • Demonstrate responsibility and accountability for care within scope of practice and level of competence and good customer service skills.
  • Escalate to Nurse in charge when in doubt: recognise situations beyond own skills and competence and seek assistance.
  • Engage patients through active listening skills and shared agenda setting.
Roles and Responsibilities
  • Dispense medication in accordance with 5 medication rights and the doctor's prescription. Advise on side effects, dosing intervals and contraindication when needed. Perform stock check and all other dispensary related duties as necessary.
  • Perform vaccination and injection.
  • Manages and ensure healthy stock level. Raise Purchase requisition for purchase and obtain approval. Work closely with doctor to manage and control drug inventory and stock level.
  • Assist to conduct treadmill stress tests under the close supervision of the attending doctor. Recognize life-threatening ECG patterns and promptly alert the doctor on duty.
  • Gather and document essential biodata (such as visual acuity for near and distant vision, colour vision, weight, height, and BMI). Conduct finger prick blood tests and urine tests, including interpreting and recording the results of the urine tests.
  • Assist the doctor on duty in carrying out any treatment or clinical procedures.
  • Ensure that resuscitation trolley and accessories are fully equipped, and all accessories are in optimal working order paying special attention to expiry date and condition of all items.
  • Perform wound dressing and removal of stitches.
  • Perform phlebotomy when needed. Understand the indication and importance of the various laboratory investigations. Ensure proper patient's identification and patient's compliance with test requirement.
  • Responsible for the administrative duties related to phlebotomy including labelling of samples and follow up.
  • Collect and analyse data pertaining to client care, provide necessary counselling as and when needed.
  • Maintain current knowledge of types of investigations and components in Health Screening Packages available in clinic and able to advise on the most appropriate package. Provide counselling advise of beneficial health services to customers when necessary.
  • Perform spirometry test.
  • Trained in Basic Cardiac Life Support (BCLS) and/or Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation (CPR) and Automated External Defibrillation (AED) and know how to use a manual resuscitator.
  • Management of clients during medical emergency situations (include next of kin).
  • Perform Diabetic Foot Screening (DFS) and Diabetic Retinal Photography (DPR).
  • Adhere to organization's infection control protocols.
  • Provide guidance and supervision to all junior staffs.
  • Engage in continuing professional development activities to maintain competency in areas of practice.
  • Escalate and discuss ethical issues and concerns with nursing and the healthcare team.
Job Requirement
  • Minimum 3 years of relevant working experience in a healthcare environment
  • Minimum Diploma in Health Sciences (Nursing)
  • Possess valid BCLS & AED certificate
  • Registered as a state registered nurse with SNB
  • Good verbal and communication skills
  • Excellent customer service and customer relation skills
  • Good knowledge of computer applications
  • Able to work independently as well as in a team
  • Effectively bilingual in two languages with one or more dialects preferred
  • Good coaching and supervisory skills
  • Basic counselling skills in chronic disease management will be an added advantage
