Workshop Manager, Component Servicing Workshop

Department: Component Servicing Workshop, Accident Repair & Overhaul

Job Purpose

• Manage a group of Supervisors, Technicians, Admins and contractors for buses and automotives' component maintenance services which include (not limited to) engine, transmission and other repairable component for our bus fleet.
• Manage a group of Supervisor, Tyreman, Storekeeper, Admin and contractors for tyre measurement, changing and store management which include (not limited to) Tyre mounting, Tyre Dismounting, Tyre Replacement, Tyre depth measurement, data recording, store accounting, data capturing and report generating for our bus fleet.
• Manage one Component Service Workshop and three tyre services operating sites namely Woodlands Bus Depot, Gali Batu Bus Depot and Soon Lee Bus Depot.
• Ensure quality products and services are delivered to the highest level of satisfaction to the customers.
• Approve purchase of parts for repair and maintenance within authorised limits
• Approve payment of invoices and staff expense claims within authorised limits.
• Approve staff overtime.
• Approve leave applications up to Assistant Manager level.
• Decisions on day-to-day operations of the Department.
  Attend management meeting on workshop performance and matters.

Core Responsibilities

• Manage Component Service Workshop overhaul of vehicle components to support both internal and external customers' needs and expectation. To ensure all component repair and maintenance activities are carried out in accordance with the required quality standard and in the most costs efficient manner.
• Develop a team of technicians with an aim to have a team of multi-skilled workforce.
• Drive workplace safety.
• Lead a team of staff and contract management to ensure all component repair and maintenance activities are carried out in accordance with the required quality standard and in the most costs efficient manner.
• Develop a team of technicians with an aim to have a team of multi-skilled workforce through job enlargement and job rotation.
• Prepare monthly performance reports and ensure Key Performance Indicators of the workshop are met.
• Prepare component failure and root cause analysis report whenever required.
• Analysis component Mean Time Between Failure (MTBF) and part planning.
• Develop efficient workflow/ process to lower repair cost, minimize wastage and improve turn-around time.
• Assist HOD in annual budgeting and responsible for monthly profit and loss
• Drive workplace safety and KAIZEN initiatives
• Ensure the daily operation of tyre measurement, changing and store management work are performed accordingly to agreement with SMRT Buses.
• Maintain and prepare reports for workshop operations for update to management and customers.
• Ensure Key Performance Indicators of the department are met:
• Prepare department annual budget and monitor the maintenance expenses.
• Ensure compliance of relevant statutory requirements and In-house rules and regulations
• Develop, evaluate and execute safety plans/programmes on personnel, environment, equipment and processes with the department.
• Conduct annual performance appraisal for all technicians under charge and provide positive feedback to the technicians of their performance. Ensure that the technicians are fairly assessed.
  Any other tasks and assignments given by superior as part of training and development.

Skills & Experience Required

• Experience : 8 years in Automotive Industry.
• Good communication and interpersonal skills.
• Good organizational and multitasking abilities.
• Proficient in Microsoft Excel, Word and Outlook etc.
  Able to lead a team in a fast-paced environment

Qualifications/ Certifications Required

Educational Level : Bachelor of Engineering
