Our large-scale Food Science 'Proteins4Singapore' program is funded by Singapore's National Research Foundation (NRF). The Technical University Munich (TUM) and Nanyang Technological University (NTU) join forces with the Singapore Institute of Technology (SIT) and A*STAR's Singapore Institute of Food and Biotechnology Innovation (SIFBI) to research plant-based proteins.

Job Purpose/Objective of the Position:

We are preparing a major Public Outreach Event on alternative proteins (9 November 2025) as part of the TFOODS Conference at Punggol Digital District. The event will feature an interactive exhibition with 8 themed zones, hands-on demos, microtalks, a show kitchen, alternative protein tasting, partner showcases, and arts & crafts. The aim is to:

• Educate on sustainability and planetary health - highlight how alternative proteins contribute to sustainable food systems and healthier futures for people and planet.
• Spark curiosity - ignite public interest in plant-based and alternative proteins through interactive, hands-on experiences.
• Build trust - foster confidence in novel foods by providing transparent, science-based information.
• Connect with future consumers - engage families, students, and communities to create lasting awareness and acceptance.

The MC will serve as the central voice of the event - welcoming guests, guiding the audience through the programme, and ensuring smooth and engaging transitions between activities. With energy, clarity, and charisma, the MC will keep the event lively and accessible to a broad audience ranging from children to community leaders.

Job Responsibilities:

• Host and moderate the full-day public outreach event on 9 November 2025 at Punggol Digital District.
• Welcome the Guest of Honour and dignitaries; introduce speakers and performers.
• Provide clear orientation for visitors about the themed zones and programme highlights.
• Engage with the audience to maintain an enthusiastic and inclusive atmosphere.
• Facilitate transitions between microtalks, highlight demonstrations, show kitchen sessions, and arts & crafts activities.
  Work closely with the event coordination team to ensure the programme runs smoothly and on time.

Job Requirements/Competencies:

• You are currently enrolled in a university.
• Proven experience as MC, host, presenter, or facilitator for public events.
• Strong verbal communication skills; confident and charismatic stage presence.
• Ability to engage diverse audiences (children, families, educators, media, community groups).
• Comfortable explaining and highlighting scientific and sustainability topics in a lively and approachable way.
• Bilingualism (English + local language) is an advantage.
• Organized, adaptable, and able to manage a dynamic programme flow.
  Interest in science, food innovation, or sustainability is a strong plus.
