Associate (Civil & Structural)

Job Description

• Design and Planning: Develop and review detailed plans, specifications, and cost estimates for various public works projects.
• Project Management: Oversee construction projects, manage project delivery, and ensure compliance with contract documents, budgets, and schedules.
• Compliance and Review: Ensure designs and construction conform to applicable codes, standards, and regulations, including federal, state, and local requirements.
• Staff Supervision: Direct, train, and review the work of assigned engineering staff and paraprofessionals, acting as a supervisor for lower-level engineers.
• Coordination: Coordinate with clients, government agencies, permitting authorities, and other consultants throughout the project lifecycle.
• Field Work: Participate in field studies, site inspections, and material testing as needed to support project design and construction.
• Procurement: Assist with the preparation of tender documents, review bids, and make recommendations for contractor selection.

Required Skills & Qualifications

• Education: A degree in civil engineering is typically required, and the role is often the journey-level classification for a professional engineer.
• Technical Skills: Proficiency in civil engineering design principles, construction, and inspection procedures, often utilizing specialized computer software for drafting and analysis.
• Analytical Skills: Ability to perform complex engineering calculations, analyze designs, and evaluate project impacts.
• Leadership and Communication: Skills to direct and mentor other engineers, manage project teams, and maintain good relationships with stakeholders.
