Technical Traineeship

FUNDAMENTAL MISSION

• This position is responsible to convert customer requirements into manufacturing sequences for product realization.
• Technical support for internal/external enquiries.
• Close follow-up and cooperation with cross-functional teams consisting of Sales, Operations, and Quality is vital to ensure timely delivery of good parts.

MAIN ACTIVITIES

Responsibiities

a. Drawing & Documentation

• Create technical drawings using AutoCAD software.
• Maintain and enhance the existing drawing processes for internal stakeholders.
• Maintain and update the manufacturing process database for technical information.
• Review manufacturing process routings based on customer and internal requirements.
• Review material mill certificates.
• Read and interpret blueprints and technical specifications.

b. WAAM Production & Engineering Support

• Analyze part designs for 3D printing and suggest optimizations where applicable.
• Prepare robot programs for WAAM (Wire Arc Additive Manufacturing) printing using Python code or equivalent 3D toolpath generation software.
• Operate and oversee WAAM machines, guiding operators to produce parts that meet quality standards.
• Maintain adequate inventory of raw materials, consumables, and spare parts for smooth WAAM production; raise MRV for procurement when necessary.
• Liaise with suppliers and sales teams to ensure seamless execution of WAAM orders, as directed by the AM Manager.
• Support engineering analysis studies.

c. Inspection & Quality Assurance

• Raise internal NCR / external 8D reports and maintain proper records.
• Ensure Process Owners complete actions/responses within the NCR / 8D timelines.
• Inspect, test, and measure materials or products being produced.
• Use various gauges and measuring instruments to verify products.
• Accept or reject items according to drawings, specifications, or customer requirements.
• Place non-conformance products on hold.
• Record and report inspection results.
• Prepare gauges for production inspection.
• Review changes in TSLI / GP and advise on amendments to QMS documents as needed.
• Transform Quality Performance data into Power BI dashboards.
• Prepare Monthly Quality Performance Reports.
• Work with leaders on customer concession requests.
• Recommend continuous improvements to quality control processes.

d. General & Administrative Support

• Perform other duties as assigned and assist the Technical Sales Manager in daily tasks.
• Maintain transparent communication in case of urgent or conflicting priorities between departments (Technical Sales – WAAM – Quality).

Desired Skills & Competencies

• Basic understanding of problem-solving methodologies (NCR, 8D, RCA, CAPA, 5 Why, fishbone diagrams).
• Proficiency in Microsoft applications (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Power BI).
• Basic understanding of drawing interpretation and measuring methods.

Authorities

• Second level of manufacturing review before job is released to manufacturing.
• First level of engineering drawings/study creation.
• First level technical support response to internal manufacturing non-conformances.
• Authority includes but is not limited to performing quality control work scopes, putting non-conformance product on hold, releasing after receiving disposition from authorized personnel such as Manager or customer, and reporting quality issues to the leader.

Acoountabilities

• Competence to use and take care of gauges, inspect product quality in the production process to avoid rejected parts flowing to customer end, and reporting any kind of quality issue on the shop floor.

Team Coordination

• Works closely with, and serves as the link between Sales, Quality, and Production personnel to ensure all departments have a common understanding of manufacturing flow of each order.

• Engineering drawing automation.

REQUIRED EXPERIENCE

Necessary

• Degree/pursuing degree in Mechanical/Mechatronics Engineering from a recognized university with minimum 1-year experience in manufacturing environment, preferably Oil & Gas machining or related industry.
• Team player, good communication and interpersonal skills.
• Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
• IT literacy, Microsoft Office, familiar with Python coding (spend up to 8 hrs/week on programming).
• Familiar with Autodesk Fusion 360 or any other 3D modelling software packages (spend up to 2 hrs/week on modelling/drawing).
• Knowledge/interest in welding or any of the additive manufacturing technologies would be an added advantage.
• Any prior experience operating industrial robots will carry extra weightage.

Wished

• Well-versed with manufacturing processes and good understanding of material specifications common to Oil & Gas industry.
• CAD software.

EDUCATION

• Degree in Mechanical Engineering / Manufacturing Engineering.
• (Other vocations with similar industrial experience will be considered.)
