Job Description

We are seeking an experienced Underwriting Manager to join our New Business Underwriting (NBU) team. This role provides support across multiple product lines and plays a key part in ensuring smooth business operations and compliance.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Assess and approve new applications for life, accident & health, and long-term care products.
  • Supervise and guide a team of underwriters, review their cases, and provide mentorship.
  • Offer underwriting support and advice to financial planners via booking systems, email, and phone.
  • Strengthen collaboration between NBU and distribution partners.
  • Ensure department KPIs and service standards are consistently met.
  • Conduct underwriting training sessions for distribution channels.
  • Lead process improvement and policy review projects to enhance efficiency.
  • Monitor and address compliance risks, ensuring adherence to industry and regulatory standards.
  • Keep abreast of regulatory developments, market practices, and potential risk issues.

Requirements
  • Bachelor's degree with at least 8 years of underwriting experience in Life, Accident & Health.
  • Candidates without a degree but with relevant certifications or significant experience will be considered.
  • Strong analytical and decision-making skills with the ability to perform under pressure.
  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills.
  • Team-oriented with high integrity and accountability.
  • Proactive, adaptable, and eager to drive improvements and embrace change.
