Job Description

AI Singapore (AISG) is a national AI programme launched by the National Research Foundation (NRF) to anchor deep national capabilities in Artificial Intelligence (AI).

The programme office is hosted by the National University of Singapore (NUS) and brings together all Singapore-based research institutions and the vibrant ecosystem of AI start-ups and companies developing AI products to perform use-inspired research, grow the knowledge, create the tools, and develop the talent to power Singapore's AI efforts.

The candidate will join the Engineering team of AISG's AI Products pillar. Our group created the SEA-LION (SouthEast Asian Languages In One Network) model, which is part of Singapore's National LLM programme. He or she will contribute towards the future of SEA-LION by building AI solutions to improve the quality and quantity of Southeast Asia (SEA) data, benchmarks and foundational models.

The Engineering team is responsible for managing the compute infrastructure and systems, building and maintaining the SEA-LION big data pipeline, hosting and maintaining the SEA-LION online API service (for inference, and others), and developing and maintaining SEA-LION software codebases.

Duties and Responsibilities

  1. Carry out system administration and AIOps work on compute clusters and systems, including developing and maintaining pipelines for data, processes, etc.
  2. Managing and upgrading the SEA-LION online API service, including building new API services.
  3. Maintain code repository and documentation standards, including assisting with the SEA-LION model training codebases.
  4. Collaborate with cross-functional teams within AI Products to design and resolve issues.
  5. Contribute to community engagement activities such as sharing via technical session meet-ups and article write-ups, and participating in discussion forums.

Qualifications

  1. Degree in computer science, machine learning, AI, and other relevant equivalent quantitative fields.
  2. Experience in writing clean production level code in Python. Knowledge of other languages will be an advantage.
  3. Comfortable working in a UNIX/Linux environment and writing bash scripts.
  4. Familiarity with PyTorch and Containerisation and/or orchestration technologies.
  5. Certifications from any cloud provider, such as AWS, GCP, Azure, etc will be an advantage, but not mandatory.
