Senior System Engineer

Overview: We are seeking a highly skilled and motivated Senior System Engineer with a strong background in system engineering, virtualization, automation, and cloud technologies. The ideal candidate will have extensive experience with Active Directory, RedHat playbook, Cloudflare, AWS, Azure, and database management. This role involves the setup, maintenance, and administration of critical infrastructure, ensuring high availability and security across our environments and our clients environments.

Key Responsibilities:

System Engineering & Administration:

• Design, deploy, and manage complex systems, focusing on Microsoft Active Directory and virtualization technologies.
• Administer and troubleshoot Active Directory, including Group Policy, DNS, DHCP, and replication issues.
• Maintain and optimize virtualized environments using Hyper-V, VMware, or similar platforms.

Automation & Scripting:

• Develop and manage automation scripts using RedHat playbooks, PowerShell, Bash, or Python to streamline processes and improve efficiency.
• Implement infrastructure as code (IaC) practices to automate provisioning, configuration, and management of systems.

Cloud Infrastructure:

• Design, deploy, and manage cloud-based solutions on AWS and Azure platforms, ensuring scalability, security, and compliance.
• Configure and manage Cloudflare for enhanced web performance and security, including DNS management, SSL certificates, and firewall rules.
• Integrate and manage hybrid cloud environments, ensuring seamless connectivity and interoperability between on-premises and cloud resources.

Database Management:

• Work closely with database administrators to ensure the availability, performance, and security of SQL databases.
• Implement backup, recovery, and disaster recovery solutions for database systems.

Infrastructure Setup & Maintenance:

• Lead the setup, configuration, and maintenance of physical and virtual infrastructure, ensuring optimal performance and uptime.
• Monitor system performance, troubleshoot issues, and implement proactive measures to prevent outages.
• Manage hardware, software, and network resources, ensuring all systems are up-to-date with the latest patches and updates.

Security & Compliance:

• Implement and maintain security best practices across all systems and platforms, including patch management, access control, and vulnerability assessments.
• Ensure compliance with industry standards and regulations, including data protection and privacy requirements.

Collaboration & Leadership:

• Work closely with cross-functional teams to deliver high-quality solutions that meet business requirements.
• Provide mentorship and guidance to junior engineers, sharing knowledge and best practices.
• Lead technical projects, from planning through execution, ensuring timely delivery and adherence to budgets.

Qualifications:

• Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or a related field.
• 5 years of experience in system engineering, with a focus on Active Directory and virtualization.
• Proficiency in automation and scripting using RedHat playbooks, PowerShell, Bash, or Python.
• Extensive experience with cloud platforms, particularly AWS and Azure.
• Strong knowledge of Cloudflare and its various services.
• Experience in database management and administration.
• Excellent problem-solving skills and attention to detail.
• Ability to work independently and manage multiple projects simultaneously.
• Strong communication skills, both written and verbal.
