Facility Management Engineer – Acute Hospital

Reports To: Assistant Manager, Facility Management and Development


Job Summary

To ensure the safe, efficient, and compliant operation of hospital infrastructure, with a focus on structural and electrical systems. The incumbent will support the planning, maintenance, and improvement of facilities in alignment with healthcare standards, particularly in critical care areas such as ICUs, and systems affecting air quality and circulation flow.


Key Responsibilities

- Oversee the operation and maintenance of electrical distribution systems, backup power, and structural integrity of hospital buildings.

- Manage and monitor HVAC systems, ensuring optimal air quality in patient care areas, including isolation rooms and ICUs.

- Support planning and execution of facility upgrades and renovations, ensuring minimal disruption to hospital operations.

- Collaborate with clinical and operations teams to optimize circulation flow for patients, staff, and equipment.

- Conduct regular inspections and audits to ensure compliance with healthcare engineering standards and regulatory requirements.

- Coordinate with external contractors and vendors for specialized maintenance and project works.

- Maintain accurate records of maintenance activities, asset performance, and incident reports using CMMS.

- Participate in emergency preparedness planning, including infrastructure resilience and contingency systems.


Qualifications & Experience

- Diploma in Electrical, Mechanical, or Structural Engineering.

- Minimum 5 years of experience in facility management, preferably in a hospital setting.

- Strong knowledge of hospital infrastructure systems, including ICU environments, air filtration, and circulation design.

- Familiarity with healthcare regulations, such as MOH guidelines, JCI standards, and infection control protocols.

- Proficient in engineering software (e.g., AutoCAD, Revit) and facility management systems (e.g., CMMS, BMS).

- Excellent problem-solving, communication, and stakeholder management skills.
